When is it ever OK for someone to sell something defective or faulty or not as described and get away with it? Well, on ebay, you can. I remember a time when ebay would assist in a dispute but it seems that they have now washed their hands of it and you have to deal directly with unscrupulous sellers yourself - of course you never get any satisfaction with schonky sellers and it seems to be OK with ebay that you lose your money. I say, start boycotting ebay unless they start puling up their socks and start dealing properly with thieves and cheats posing as sellers.

Did you actually open an ebay claim for an item not as described or defective?
If so, then how did the seller win the case?
Normally the seller would have to prove the item was not defective and that is hard to do, buyers would normally win.
If you just messaged ebay, that could very well get nowhere as it isn't an official dispute.
You are right in that if you are dealing with unscrupulous sellers, you'll get nowhere. Chinese sellers of cheap stuff will soemtimes try to get out of a claim by promising a replacement or partial refund or whatever, which is why you are better off just opening an official ebay claim.
Personally, I also try to steer clear of Chinese sellers for most things as I don't think you get the quality and in some cases, you might get unsafe items.

ebay do not know or care if you leave, and they are not going to read your ‘comments’ here
Take responsibility for your own buying choices and use the tools you are given
How are you ‘dealing’ with these sellers yourself exactly?
No doubt this is about the abusive feedback for the dodgy seller in China you choose to buy from and say they strung you along? How? You could not not bought from them, you could have not played their games

It is clearly shown on the item that you purchased.
"I say" that someone with your length of membership should look at feedback before deciding to purchase a cheap electronic item from a China based seller with poor feedback.
"I remember a time when" people would take responsibility for their poor decisions, use the tools provided by eBay & not simply leave negative feedback or complain on here.
It is so easy to obtain a refund for those who take a few moments to do so.
