USA Seller Won't Post As Ebay Says Item too Fragile? WTH?

Hi. Any advice please?

I bought an item last night and now ebay seller says that he has had advice from ebay that "item is too fragile to post and that ebay won't let him post internationally".

Seriously? I don't know how he expects me to believe that as thousands of fragile items are sent every. damn. day. It's a vintage plastic item fyi.

If he cancels the order, can I still leave feedback (I read somewhere that if I cancel, feedback cant be left). It's VERY/ SUPER/ HARDLY EVER that I would leave negative feedback but I feel that due to the false sounding narrative that it is warranted.

Well, he cancelled it folks, so I guess that's that, as it has disappeared from my purchase list.

If you scroll down to the bottom of your purchase page, it will show as a cancelled item for you to leave feedback.

Don't know what their problem was, it was listed for Ebay International Shipping, which meant only domestic postage for them, and fully covered by ebay for any case started.

Could also be that they were suspicious of the buyer, when people have their feedback marked as private, you do start to think why.

I wondered about that as well Sugar, but I wasn't sure if a seller could see the feedback if they were in a transaction with the buyer that had "private feedback".

It also crossed my mind that the seller could have used the old GSP and was caught out with their "repackaging" and the buyer had an item broken as a result, yes I do know that it's not the sellers problem but..........

No you cant see it even if you are in a transaction. I dont cancel if I see this. But if they ask me a question, and I see private feedback or heaps of negative feedback left for sellers, they are blocked immediately.

Probably because of the fact that verynicewitch is my username and also part of my email address and some of the nosey childrens parents at school became aware of this and I don't like people stalking me (one dad literally said "so are you very nice witch on ebay as well?" ).

It would seem to me that it would be more suspicious to change my name/ get a new account. I have 1,156 all 100% positive feedback and am not sure why I'm explaining myself to you who only has a mere 250 ratings.

Off you go, not interested in you 'logic' thanks.

Now as far as your original question, why would the seller accept your offer, knowing you are in OZ and then feel the need to create an excuse for not shipping to OZ, not very logical. Afterall eIS is fully responsible for the international component of shipping, I presume like the GSP a law unto themselves.

Thank you for your advice, trying to be helpful and sticking to the actual question asked 🙂

There seems to be nothing at the bottom of my page, it's like it has just disappeared with the cancelling of the transaction, but I'll go back and have another look to see if I missed something.

I don't know 100% for sure if you now can or not, but I was just this second reading feedback about a seller and the neg he had was from someone who said he cancelled the sale on them. That feedback was in the last few months, so unless things have changed, I'd guess you can leave feedback if it is the seller cancelling.

I can't seem to find a 'leave feedback' option, and I think it's because I haven't paid for it, which ebay is blocking me from doing because he must have changed his settings to not post internationally (despite having a cost for international postage on his listing 😭😭).

That might be part of the problem. A lot of sellers resent being told how to package. I would have cancelled and blocked on that basis. The 80/20 rule.

You probably can't leave feedback because the transaction has been cancelled using a reason that obviates feedback. Like problem with buyer's address. That's what I would have used.

Actually, I didn't bring the packaging into it until AFTER he said that "ebay told him it was too fragile to post".

I pointed out that I had previously had plates sent from the UK and a ceramic salt and pepper set from the USA just a few weeks agao (item number: eBay item number:134798715185). If you have a problem with someone asking nicely to pack something well so it arrives safely, that 's just between you and your ego I guess! (poor buyer that you block for no good reason, probs better off being blocked and not having to deal with you ?)

He then went on to tell me that he "understood" my disappointment as he collects Holt Howard items...

Indeed. I have better things to do with my time than cater to potentially problem buyers. Better to block at the outset.

And before you cast aspersions I, like sugar, have far more feedback than you are ever likely to amass. And for selling. Not buying, which is essentially meaningless.
