wrong item sent - buying with confidence

Summary: zalza_66 initiated a discussion about receiving the wrong item, highlighting concerns about buying with confidence. twyngwyn, sandypebbles, and sugar249 responded without content, possibly indicating acknowledgment or technical issues. Later, sugar249 interacted again with zalza_66, and springyzone joined the conversation, although specific points remain unclear due to the absence of detailed content.

I ordered a 30 ml bottle  of something, however I received a 12 ml bottle.

I contacted the seller, and didn't receive any response for more then 3 business days.

according to the "eBay Money Back Guarantee" "If you’ve talked to your seller and the issue still isn’t resolved after three business days, contact us.". so I tried contacting, however i was sent through loops of automated options, but no way of actually contacting eBay. finally with no other option, i tried to file for a return. however it stated that  "If you don't hear back or can't work things out, you can ask us to step in and help starting on September 5, 2024." basically i would have to wait another week for eBay to actually help out.
it seems to me that what eBay writes on their MBG page that "If you’ve talked to your seller and the issue still isn’t resolved after three business days, contact us" isn't accurate, rather is misleading. and practically, their claim that you can "Browse. Buy. Carefree." isn't true.!
    am I missing something?

separate question. the seller return policy is that the buyer pays for return shipping. I would assume that  it doesn't include such a case where the seller sent the wrong item?

Even if you do hear back from the seller, I'd still open an official ebay claim on 5 Spet if I were you.

Some sellers reply, saying don't worry, we will ship another to you, just wait, but then they don't. And you wait and wait,  and your opportunity to open a claim runs out.

Over here in Australia, it is 30 days from delivery, not sure what it is in USA but probably similar.

You don't even have to contact a seller if you are sent the wrong thing, you can open a claim via ebay.

And buyer never pays return postage over here (and not in USA either, I would not think)

If you bought from a US seller, they should by rights issue you with a postage label to post it back with tracking and you should get a refund then

Make sure you follow through with any ebay claim you open. If the seller ignores it, it could time out unless you finalise it. Good luck.

And that is a fatal flaw made by many,  google knows nothing, it is a search engine,  looking for information based on flawed inputs.  Don't blame google.

in addition to sandy,  yes if item is not as described, the seller pays the return postage (in oz anyhow), no matter what their return policy is.

Here in Australia you need to actually open and follow through with an item not as described dispute

    Did you?

No need to mess around , wait for the seller, wait for eBay etc

Maybe it is different in the USA

eBay is all about the buyer here, and the process to open an item not as described dispute is clear and easy

You're in the USA....you are on the Australian boards.

I suggest you ask your question on your own country's boards
