Lodging A Formal Complaint Against Ebay
Summary: breakingb34 is seeking advice on how to file a formal complaint against eBay after their account payouts were frozen due to using holiday mode. Despite years of selling with 5-star feedback, they are unable to bypass the eBay chat bot or find a way to access a reference number for reporting to AFCA. *casey* suggests the issue might be related to transaction holds for high-value items rather than holiday mode. They recommend speaking to an agent or requesting a callback. lezned-toycollector notes a new "Contact an agent" button in the chat feature.
Hi there,
Can someone let me know how to lodge a formal complaint against ebay. I have been selling for years, and they recently told me since I used holiday mode that it is a flag on my account and have frozen all payouts. Years of selling history and only 5 star feedback for selling high value items. When I try to contact them I get told there is no open cases to review, and I can't seem to bypass the chat bot nor can I can a way to lodge a formal complaint. I need a reference number so I can report to AFCA.

·3 months agoIf you are less than 12 months old on eBay and sell stuff that is pricey and put yourself on holiday mode after selling a few of them, you will get flagged. It is a no brainer there and money will be held until 30 days after the tracking shows delivered

Adding your post from another thread:
"their website says after delivery is confirmed 48-72 hours, and yet my account shows 30 business days, which I haven't had since I first started selling years ago"
There's not a 'one size fits all ' with transaction holds and I doubt your hold is anything to do with a "holiday mode" flag as such ...but they would call it a gap in selling.
eBay may also be using the ‘high priced items’ 30 day hold
Remember, eBay earns interest on all payments held.
If you expand the information in this link where relevant, you'll see all the recently updated reasons for transaction holds.

"Years of selling history and only 5 star feedback for selling high value items"
Do you mean eBay has frozen all payments in your 'other' account, which presumably has a reasonably high feedback score, but IS allowing you to activate a free selling
'payout on demand' with the account (breaking b34) you've used to post this thread ?
"I can't seem to bypass the chat bot"
When you reach the automated assistant in eBay Help, ask to speak to an agent or request a call back.
