Refund on item over 90days
Would love some advice please.
My son purchased an item (international) in February which buyer was going to send in July as the item was a preorder. Buyer has advised he is unable to ship internationally and cannot refund as eBay has already kept their seller fee and shipping fee. As this was purchased over 90 days ago we cannot raise a case with eBay and we keep getting told someone will contact us but they haven’t.
Any advise?

·3 weeks agoNever pre order anything on eBay or Amazon. Too many scammers and scalpers. What you should do is report them. Even if you haven't bought anything from a seller that is clearly a scammer and possibly a scalper too. When reporting a seller it can possibly get their account suspended. Which means they won't be able to sell anything anymore. In addition leave negative feedback so his rating goes down 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

The time limit for pre-sales is 40 day
If a seller was saying 5 months, that is the only thing anyone needs to hit the back button immediately
90 days does not come into it. In item not received disputes, it is 30 days
Not a single thing can be done through eBay after 6 months

·3 weeks agoOK so my first annoyance is when people refer to sellers as buyers. There should be no confusion Buyers buy , sellers sell.
Your first mistake was participating in a presale transaction that was going to take so long. Ebay has a policy that sellers offering presale, must guarantee to ship within 40 days of the order for the specific reason that you have found yourself in.
Ebay keeping fees is the sellers problem - he should not have advertised what he could not ship within 40 days and should have refunded you at that time.
Don't waste another minute (as you are running out of time) and lodge a credit card chargeback with your bank and get your money back that way

Your son's been 100% scammed.
With everything you've mentioned, very possibly a fraudulent listing for a non existent item. What is the item number ?
Presales must guarantee postage within 40 days of purchase.
"we keep getting told someone will contact us"
No-one's going to contact you.
You have 180 days to file an 'item not received' claim with Paypal if that's how you paid.
You may be just in time.
Or as a last resort, you could try a chargeback through your bank.
