won’t let me upload a tracking number so now can’t get paid out now item has been delivered.

Summary: matt009au sold an expensive watch and encountered an issue uploading the tracking information on eBay because they didn't purchase postage through eBay, as required. Despite confirmation from the buyer that the item was delivered, eBay chat stated they couldn't assist with payment resolution. twyngwyn and sandypebbles explained that purchasing a label through eBay is mandatory for high-value items, and such requirements were communicated by eBay. Other participants mentioned that notifications about these changes were widespread, suggesting the issue arose from disregarding the procedures that were previously communicated.

I sold a fairly expensive watch a week or so ago, packed it up and took it to the post office along with some other items like i always do.

After sending I went in and uploaded the tracking information for the other items, however, it wouldnt let me do it for this one.

I messaged the buyer with the tracking and contacted eBay chat re the issue. They informed me that for that item I was meant to purchase postage through eBay (I didn’t realise this was now a thing for domestic parcels) and as such I couldn’t upload tracking information and they couldn’t either. They advised that once it had been delivered to reach out again to chat and they would arrange payment.

Fast forward a few days and now the item has been delivered. Buyer confirmed they are happy - so I reach out to eBay chat again… apparently nothing they can do … I just don’t get paid out my $2k…

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

I take you mean that there is nothing they can do to release the funds early?

'I didn’t realise this was now a thing for domestic parcels'

It is a requirement that you purchase an eBay label for an item worth that amount, not 'new' and has been posted numerous times by eBay, including reminders . It is not simply about being a 'domestic parcel'

For those who listed prior to the introduction of free selling, they were sent multiple emails/messages/notifications advising them of the upcoming changes. So it's not something they didn't know about. Everyone had the option of doing nothing which constituted acceptance of the changes to the UA, or closing their account.

On the other hand, those who have listed after the introduction of free selling have accepted the current UA.

Regardless of whichever scenario applies to your item, the bottom line is that you can't say you didn't know about required procedures to which you've agreed/accepted.

Edit to add: To be honest, your entire issue has been caused solely by your own decision to disregard correct procedure, and then acting on that decision. At the end of the day, no eBay agent nor anybody here will ever give you any form of advice or assistance with trying to circumvent any eBay policy.

Since you've personally chosen to not use a tracked delivery service (i.e. an eBay label) for your item, all you can do now is wait out the hold period - which is 31 days after the buyer pays (for items sent without tracking).

No need to be nasty towards other members

eBay made numerous announcements well before the change took place, and again sent reminders afterwards

You have said yourself you just did your own thing, as you always did

There is nothing eBay staff can ‘fix up’ since you disregard your obligations as a seller, and no reason you cannot contact them

I have never sold on this account I post on the forum with, yet even I got notification emails from eBay about what my obligations regarding selling would be under the changes
