I now have 828 pages of community on the app……some open discussions are 13 years old 🤕

The same thing happened in the song thread yesterday when I posted Shakin Stevens

Then both of our posts 'appeared' about two hours later

Such a stupid, pointless system that serves exactly no purpose whatsoever (other than to give Bevy something to do since they have no interest in fixing all they issues they caued)

Why can't they use this AI they are so addicted to for 'approvals' instead of posts pending for hours?

Why is it ranting and raving novels about not getting special treatment appear as soon as they are posted but replies/comments to questions which are factual and to the point left hanging for hours until a human 'feels like' checking them

No-ones mentioned it that I can see but an (old) new feature's been added.

Click on a user ID and for those who have their profile set to public, Message has been added

Where is this, @*casey* ? I can’t see the option; I’m accessing the boards on my phone at the moment.

EDIT: I see where I can now send a message to someone, but not where I can see messages to me… Hmmm, checking…

I don't think it restores old messages but I've tested it with sending a new one and will wait and see if replies also work

They've also added Messages > View all just above Categories on the left

UPDATE: The left column will show whether I’ve received messages (and from whom). However, to access a message, I needed to click onto the message option in the profile of sender.

I'm not using a phone but can read and reply to private messages on the left of the screen using an iPad and computer.

Whether the eBay UK, US and AU sites all have the same features eventually remains to be seen.

Currently:

Only the US site displays who has given kudos.

Just a couple of things ...there are plenty more !

I posted on a thread advising a buyer to use eBay's Money Guarantee and if they were too late , to open a case with Paypal or their bank.

The post took 18 hours to be approved - Sheer stupidity

Posts 'pending approval' retain their place on a thread so when they become live / approved sometimes hours later , and if other members have posted in the mean time, the post then appears in the middle of a thread - More stupidity

I reported the locked Ask a Member forum ages ago .

We know the problem, they know the problem ..... and I'm sure it could easily be unlocked.

Have they done anything about it ? - No, of course they haven't !

They're excited - Glad someone is !

The forum couldn't be further away from a 'dynamic and engaging environment' if they tried.

Seems they'd like to see one question and one answer as it's pretty much the only way you can easily follow a thread now . Any more and the posts are all over the place and much of the time, the threads don't make much sense at all.

Good luck to anyone who can adapt to this rubbish !

@not_for_sale It’s possible that people will adapt… You’re right. Some are more likely to than others. It may take some time, of course, but I have seen people adapt to worse situations.

But we’re already seeing tremendous discontent in some threads. The reduced functionality is no way to woo posters.

However, that’s by no means the nub of the problem. It seems to me that the way in which threads/posts are locked so that the general impression is “Go away” is the most worrying change. That - and the “post not yet approved” thing, and the Ask a Member (there are no mentors) lockdown is worse than Melbourne 2020.

The previous version of the board wasn't exactly flooded with people either. There have been some weekends when barely a post was made. Perhaps some people need a little more time to adapt and adjust.

It certainly is a dud but I think that is an understatement. They have absolutely ruined the Community Spirit boards - and probably all the others as well.

Sellers and buyers will be severely disadvantaged as well as a result !!!
