The Wordle thread. (All welcome. It's time to Wordle.)
Summary: A participant expressed regret over the loss of the original Wordle thread due to a platform update and introduced a new one to continue discussing Wordle games and related puzzles like Octordle, Quordle, and Dordle. They provided links to these games and highlighted a new issue: the inability to hide spoilers, which complicates sharing solutions without revealing answers. Both countessalmirena and springyzone shared their recent experiences and scores from playing various Wordle-type games, discussing strategies and setbacks. springyzone expressed frustration about the spoiler issue and shared a learning experience about how posting results influences their gameplay approach.
Regrettably, the wonderful original Wordle thread started by k1ooo has vanished during the lamentable changeover to the current Community Discussion Boards iteration. In lieu of that thread, this new one has risen from the ashes.
You can play Wordle on your computer, smart phone, iPad/tablet, etc.
Wordle is found here: https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html
(New Wordle puzzle every day)
RELATED World-type spin-offs:
8-panel version - solve 8 words in the one puzzle. Octordle: https://www.merriam-webster.com/games/octordle/
(The daily Classic, daily Extreme, daily Chill, daily Sequence, daily Rescue)
4-panel version - solve 4 words in the one puzzle. Quordle: https://www.merriam-webster.com/games/quordle/#/
(This has changed to have the daily Classic, daily Extreme, daily Chill, daily Sequence and daily Rescue, just like Octordle.)
2-panel version - solve 2 words in the one puzzle. Dordle: https://zaratustra.itch.io/dordle
(The daily Dordle)
Issue
Unfortunately it appears that we no longer have the ability to include spoilers. (Yet another step backwards with the new boards.)
>! hide this text !<
(No, not working...)
That makes it almost impossible to Wordle without inadvertently seeing the solution. I suggest that anyone contributing to this thread perform their Wordling etc before posting here, having saved their working out/solving already so that it's simply a matter of posting the solution and steps.
Happy Wordling!

After my first 3 turns, I agonised over what move to make next as every single spot had more than one possible answer.
I hate having to use another eliminator that early in the game.
I took a risk on #1 and chose crest (wrest) and that acted like dominoes to clear the way.
#5 last turn was a guess but just luck. Adopt ot afoot, which is another fav of theirs, but it has been used recently so i tried adopt instead.

This one interests me because if you follow true to form, you're going to have a great head start on your first turn, but it is going to frustrate you no end because as you know, it isn't just what you've got done, it is what you've got left that counts.
I would calculate you'll still have to whittle it down from about 10 or more possibilities, even after that great start, so I am looking forward (if you do get around to doing it) to seeing what on earth you'll use as eliminator.
For myself, I was only pretty sure of the shape of it after turn 2. I took R as a given in second place.
I had no stand out favourite choice, no gut feeling, though I quite liked grade and frame. How wrong I was!

Talk about a disappointment.
I could not come up with anything else for #3 so I thought... have a go, and was pleased to get a gead start with an answer on turn 2.
I should have left well enough alone and used shout for turn 3 but nope, I was convinced #7 was probably mealy.m It wasn't.
Then towards the end, I was faced with #4-brook, crook, crock, frock?
And #8 which I was convinced would be draft or craft.
I tried defib as eliminator and it did not recognise this word? What? I don't like it either but I am sure they have used it in the past as an answer.
In the end I tried bifid.
I had to rethink #8. Really, again?? You will get this on second turn if you do it.
I hope things are settling down a little for you but I do understand things are busy & I don't expect you to be on here every day. I can't always be either.
I hope you have applied for a carer's allowance and your mother may be eligible for some care packages.
My sister in law qualified. She can walk okay, cook, clean etc. She was okayed for my aged care a few years back when she had some serious mental health problems.
But the package covers a range of things, including an armchair where the seat can be raised to make getting up easier. That was worth $6500. Plus she gets cleaning done once a fortnight and someone to mow the lawn. She also gets some packaged meals.
I know your mum can't eat those meals but if you can get some cleaning and gardening help, it may take some pressure off at least.
Please make sure you look into what you can have for your home to assist in any way.

And this is a very appropriate word for ebay, I thought!
When typing in the second one, I thought... I should be like countess and work out several possible answers and craft an eliminator from that. But I just kept typing my usual as I thought, I don't know, except the L will probably be down the end somewhere.
In all honesty, shill would not have been on my list of likely answers. If not shout(which in hindsight should have been short), I probably would have tried fudgy & I would have been hopping mad 2 or 3 turns later.

Try as I might, I could not make a word. Nearest thing to a word I could come up with was merch and then the penny dropped. Surely not short for merchandise. But yes, it was.
