Overdue bill in 2017 & eBay's lack of any support.

Summary: A participant initiated a discussion about an overdue bill from 2017 and expressed frustration with eBay's lack of support. gutterpunkz05 responded to the initial post, though details of the conversation are not available. xplcit further engaged in multiple exchanges, including interactions with sandypebbles and *casey*, indicating depth in the discussion but without specific content disclosed. Responses seemed to revolve around the challenges faced with eBay's support system, although the exact points remain unspecified.

I have an overdue bull for a sold Samsung on my account in 2017. I was not using my account then, and my email address has been closed.

There is an overdue bill of $80, eBay says I need to pay it to get my seller rights back. I have tried to argue with eBay over this as I should not be charged for this fee as it was not my sale.

Anyways, I cannot update my personal email as eBay sends a message to my email that was a close GMAIL account. Anyways, so all I get are errors saying, whoops that's embarrassing, something went wrong.

eBay cannot change any of my records, and when I go to the payment link they send me, it says a link will be sent to my email in 3 days, but again I don't have access to the email.

eBay on the phone said it would go to both eBay message and email, the person who responds by eBay message says it will only go to email.

Its like eBay has no clue how to fix issues and they are blind to their own policies.

How can I get this bill paid to get my seller rights back?

"I have an overdue bull for a sold Samsung on my account in 2017. I was not using my account then"

That's exactly the sort of item that a hijacker would list on an account.

Have you been able to log in as normal  since your return to eBay ?

I suggest you change your password  and run all your  virus protection.

"eBay on the phone said it would go to both eBay message and email"

I would have thought this was correct.

As you're prepared to pay the bill,  try going to eBay Help at the top of the page.

Follow the prompts until you get to the automated assistant then ask to speak to a supervisor.

As you've already been told 2 different stories from phone help, hopefully the supervisor will have a bit more knowledge and be able to help you.

Be sure to explain the situation very clearly.

I want to pay it. I just cannot pay it, that is the biggest issue. I have been calling them, mailing them, but the same result the account is on hold and wait for a debt collector to call you? It's been since 2017, no debt collector is going to call me to pay the bill, its passed the statutory limitations limit.

I have only recently logged back in to eBay as I was on a long hiatus. I was told by the agent on the phone that the account is hold, I am aware of that one, and that I need to wait the debt collector, which won't happen. It's like a merry go round of no resolution sadly, I am not sure how one can get their status back if they have such strict policy.

You made no mention of a debt collector in your opening post, only that you 've been given different stories in regards to where ebay notifications would be sent.

You were possibly hijacked and you've been clicking links that go nowhere ?

Did you take ANY of my advice and / or directions ?

You have nothing to lose by contacting a supervisor through eBay Help as I've already advised.

They only told me about the debt collector today. They said, wait for the debt collector to call you. I told them, its been too long, the statutory of limtiations on debt has passed, no debt collector will call me to discuss it. They said they will put in a request for a supervisor to call me in 24-48 hours. I have nothing to lose, but its just the process to resolve this issue, clicking all the links they tell me always puts me back in square 1, the same page that says an email will be sent to me.

"clicking all the links they tell me".

Sorry , as you seem to have taken none of my advice, I can see why your account was probably hijacked and to be honest, there's a good chance it'll happen again.

Also, my advice was to contact a supervisor through eBay Help at the top of the page , as phone help's been giving you different stories regarding notifications.

Good Luck with solving your problem

Which part of your advice have I not followed? eBay customer support over the phone vs the eBay message are the exact same, they both walkthrough with the same links to click, I have also gone through the entire eBay page to see if I can pay for the actual invoice. Its like your saying "oh he clicked a dodgy link", so I am a victim to myself? Have you ever heard of data being compromised from big companies, to forums, other services that we sign up for? Why are people always putting you in the spolight as if you clicked some dodgy link and you got compromised becuase of your own bad doing? I also said to you I was on the phone, I was also on the eBay message system talking to them to get someone to call me, so I am lost as to how you think I am sitting back on some rock somewhere not taking your advice.

    Thanks for your reply.

The issue is the payment link they say will arrive only goes to an email address that was closed.

I still have the mobile number linked to the account.

All I want to do is pay the bill, but I am struggling to get any assistance to actually get this paid, this is the big problem.

So while I appreciate your input, its not helping my situation.

While it may not help your situation, it IS a factual reply. No point other members telling you something that isn't correct.

Frankly I am surprised eBay let it go for seven years. Did you also close your bank account and move?

Usually if debts are not paid, eBay will either deduct funds from the bank account or send in the debt collector

I am not sure what you expect eBay can do if you closed the email account in question or why you did not update the email address in eBay before doing so

For one, you do not have sellers rights,  ebay grants seller privileges  not rights and such privileges can be revoked at any time.

You are responsible for the security of your account, so without evidence that your account was hacked, you are responsible for the outstanding debt.

Once you manage to sort out your email and payment issues, you will also have to sign on to managed payments, but given a history of debt for 7yrs, there is no guarantee that you will be accepted.

There is no guarantee, you are correct. The issue remains that its very difficult to get a resolve, I want to pay the debt regardless, but its like saying here's money, and its simply rejected.
