Sold an item from Europe (Hungary) to USA but buyer was able to select domestic shipping
Summary: blauzs0 sold an item from Europe (Hungary) to a buyer in the USA, but the buyer was able to select a domestic shipping option, potentially causing a shipping issue or confusion. The thread includes responses from multiple participants discussing this anomaly, though specific details of their discussion aren't disclosed.
Hi everyone,
I’m based in Budapest, Hungary and I want to sell and ship to the USA, but I’ve run into a confusing shipping issue.
My item/ my location is correctly set to Budapest, Hungary (this shows correctly on the live listing as can be seen in the photo).
My shipping settings are:
Domestic shipping: Standard Shipping (1–5 business days) with my local price
International shipping: Standard International Shipping, price set intentionally, Ships to: Worldwide
I also use the exclusions list to block countries I don’t ship to
Despite this, I’ve had a US buyer able to select the domestic shipping option at checkout, instead of the international rate I set for them.
I understand that domestic shipping should be based on item location, not the eBay domain, so I’m confused as to why this is happening when my location is clearly Hungary.
My questions are:
Has anyone else experienced US buyers being offered domestic shipping when listing from outside the US?
Is this related to using “Standard Shipping” as the domestic service name?
Would switching the domestic service to “Economy Shipping” (or another non-standard label) prevent US buyers from seeing domestic shipping at checkout?
I list on eBay.com because English is my primary language, and I’d prefer to stay on the .com site if possible.
Any insight from experienced international sellers would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

·5 months agoSo basically ive sold 3 items to people in the USA in the last month or so! Cant generate label like you say. buyer has paid! Its then left up to me to fix the issue which has soley and totally to do with donald trump THE MANS, tarrifs! Trump isnt the problem though... EBAY IS! The biggest issue is they do not care either way! I mean to say just like sendle leaving the sh)*e show, the could manage a warning message! I suggested they warn potential buyers and sellers with a simple message "US IS NO LONGER BEING SHIPPED TO! NO, that was too hard to warn people! i just sold a cassette , yesterday. to someone in US. had to cancel it after they paid! Cassette was $14. Postage like $30 plus, even after i get the LIFE SUCKED OUT OF ME, fees and all on the massive postage cost, and the possibility i might make 6 bux when said and done and walked to the PO, SORRY, rambling...remind me why im here again pls?

·5 months agoBecause you don't keep up with current events?
And this relates to selling from Hungary to the US how?
Easy fix - exclude the US from your list if you insist on selling Internationally.
