Paypal pay in 4
I have been using the PayPal pay in 4 payment method for at least 3 years now without any problems, 3 weeks ago I tried to do a purchase but the pay in 4 was not working for me unfortunately. I rang PayPal but they weren't very helpful.
I read somewhere that they can suspend pay in 4 for 180 days (that's a long time) .
I think PayPal call it a Temporary security hold.
Can anyone help with this problem?
Thanks

·2 weeks agoHello, Michelle
A temporary security hold sounds like a pre-authorisation thing. I believe it usually resolves in under a week (more likely 3 business days). If it doesn’t resolve, it might be that the seller has cancelled that order or there’s a failure at their end.
Was the purchase amount at the upper end of the Pay in 4 amount? (You don’t need to answer; it’s just something to consider.)
I did experience a Pay in 4 three months ago. Somehow I’d paid for an item from a well-known Australian store, where the item was showing as in stock on the page from which I purchased, but it was actually no longer available. I’d reached the page via google but I realised the issue of this pending payment problem was caused by what I called a “limbo purchase”… The product page showed out of stock for the item when I accessed it from the website search page.
It took a full week for the limbo purchase to cancel and for that first 25% payment to get back to me.
Was your experience anything like this? Could you have accessed a sort-of phantom google result page for a purchase?

OP2 weeks agoI tried to do a purchase but it didn't go through, so I kept on trying, it was like it timed out or something, this was about 3 weeks ago, when I spoke to PayPal they said it would be restored in 2 weeks, I am hoping that it isn't for 180 days, I'm just not getting a definitive answer from PayPal. I do make a lot of purchases with Pay in 4 on either eBay or online.
