Promoted Items suddenly get shown well after a sale?
I have been keeping tabs when an item is sold and the date and time, checking when Promoted Items sign shows on my sales. I am suggesting for others to do same. If a product is sold on a Promoted Listing, why does it not show immediately like it does on most, but later on appears. I have been noting the time and date when the sale has first gone thru, and a day later the promoted item appears. MMmmmmm I have a question as to why. Do others? Have you watched?

·1 year agoItems sold via promoted listings when a buyer clicks on an advertisement and completes the purchase have the promotional fee debited at the time of sale.
Items sold under the new promoted listing set up where the buyer purchased a promoted item which has been clicked on by someone else have the promotional fee debited the day after the sale.
Using the dates, it's extremely simple to work out which items were sold via traditional promoted listing and which ones sold via via the new fee structure - which IMHO is brilliant.
Edit: To clarify, the ability to easily differentiate between the 2 types of promoted listing is brilliant - not the new fee structure.

·1 year agoHow do you know the fees weren't for promoted listings sold under the new fee structure... which is exactly what you described in the OP.
Are you saying that nobody at all clicked on your promoted item before it sold?
I'll try to explain again. If I click on your promoted listing and purchase it, the promotion fee will appear in your account at the time of the sale... but if I click on your promoted listing and don't purchase it, then your next door neighbour buys it, the promotion fee appears in your account the day after the sale.
How, may I ask, do you know which of your promoted items have and haven't been clicked?

·1 year agoOh, and don't forget the eBay definition of a click;
A click includes any interaction with your ad, for example: add to watchlist, add to cart, quick view, or other interactive functionality.
So if anyone at all did any of the above within 30 days of your sale, and it sold to someone else, the promotion fees appear in your account the day after the sale.
