Ebay Contact needed
Summary: flyoz expressed frustration over not being able to contact eBay Australia due to the lack of a customer service phone number and unresponsive messaging. sandypebbles explained that the call center closed during COVID and advised using the website's help section. lezned-toycollector and flyoz debated about the necessity of businesses offering phone numbers, with flyoz emphasizing the importance of customer contact based on their business experience. e_purchasing provided practical advice on pursuing a chargeback in case of fraudulent transactions, which was echoed by sandypebbles and *casey*.
Does anyone have a contact phone number for Ebay Australia as clearly they are hiding their contact Phone number and also NOT ever responding to messages??

·1 week agoWhat you want to do is a credit card chargeback. BUT! Before you do gather some information
1- Take a screenshot of the item details from the listing : it provides info Product Details
Capacity: 1.2 litres (Max. water tank)
Dimensions/Size: 30.9cm (H) x 18.8cm (W) x 30.9cm (D)
Power source: 220-240V / 50-60Hz / 1100W
Product weight: 3.5kg
2- Go to your LPO with the tracking number and get a screen dump which will provide weight and dimensions of the parcel.
You can even ask them for proof of delivery (whether they can give that to you is questionable)
Armed with that information showing descrepency of delivery, you will have the greatest success with your chargeback

Just to add... you accuse eBay of hiding their phone number... surely you realise that one can not hide that which doesn't exist, right???
flyoz
OP1 week agoYes your somewhat correct But they must have a contact phone number somewhere surely

·1 week agoNot a real one, no
We have had scammers from time to time who post and pretend to be 'eBay representatives' and a fake phone number, to try to trick people into calling and giving their personal information
No call center, no phone number
Even if there was it would be the same staff as are eBay help, reading from the same pre-written scripts

·1 week ago@flyoz The call center closed due to Covid and never reopened, nothing to do with being too busy
The call center was also overseas, so I doubt there will be an international law to make them reopen and show a phone number
If it is the dodgy seller you are talking about not answering messages, it is no surprise there
Best follow casey’s advice to try to get your money back
Anything else is pretty much a waste of time

If it's anything to do with the negative feedback you left for a seller, you can
1) Go to a lot of trouble trying to prove to eBay it was a fake tracking scam and still lose - they'll still back the scammer / seller !
OR
2) As is usually recommended on the US forums, which are generally flooded with fake tracking scams, do a chargeback with your funding source.
Let them know very clearly that you're the victim of a fake tracking scam and they'll generally take a lot more notice of fraudulent scams and hopefully help you.

·1 week agoThere is no contact phone number, the call center closed during Covid
Where did you leave a message? (if )you mean email, the email is pointless since it is bot automated and not read by humans
You can contact eBay by going to help at the top of any page and typing speak to an agent in the chat bot
Or (without giving personal details) let other members know what you need help with

·1 week agoWhat you THINK should be law and what actually IS law are 2 completely different things.
No company is EVER going to base their business model on YOUR misconceived perception of the law, but rather, on the ACTUAL law relevant to their operations... just saying 😉

OP1 week agoNot "Just sayin " you were having a go whilst pretending you actually know what your saying. Having been in Business across a number of fields over 40 pluss years I know what I am talking bout. My statement stands Companies are now run by entitled bone lazy imbeciles who only pay AI generated lip service to customers-Their sole reason they can exist.. Yet they treat those customers like annoying statistics who should pay and shut up Not worthy of contact. Ebay is a classic example and why people are avoiding it in numbers me now included. As the dodgy sellers creep in Ebay is is a place to be very wary of as they avoid contact at all cost . Now they squeal call volumes are too high response too expensive all because they refuse to speak with people to more simply resolve issues up front. Their own laziness has increased that traffic and they will find their wish for less bother will soon come true. This malaise started with Bureaucratic governments and wass adopted by business

·1 week agoNo, not having a go at all - just stating 100% fact... and since you completely missed the point, I'll state it again...

OP1 week agoSorry you missed my point completely also My view is Not misconceived its based upon over 40 years "Actual" business experience. There was Never an actual law but should be that if you run a business you must provide and address, a phone number and email address and respond to contact by any of them. This used to be accepted as standard practice but has now all but dispersed It seems like business expects income with a minimum of interaction. Thats why it was so easy for me to gain business from competitors. I met with clients and remained available whilst competitors hid. In this online world contact is even more important especially for customers. Businesses are clueless ho w much they lose by NOT being available yet they appear happy to waste ten times that meager effort using bots, consultants and other "dubious business development tactics"

·1 week agoI think you miss the point, how you did business enabled you to charge clients in accordance to that. Clients wanting that sort of service would be willing to pay for it and those that could not justify the extra cost would seek alternatives. You chose to buy on eBay to pay less for an item than you would otherwise pay in a retail setting and sellers on the platform are able to deliver that due to the costs associated, of which eBay and their AI generated service for the fees charged is a factor.
