Anyone having problem with postage cost for new ebay / AP Extra Small Satchels?
Summary: lm-entertainment inquired about issues regarding postage costs for the new eBay/AP Extra Small Satchels. The discussion included multiple responses, with participants such as ramcycle2010 and grannytakesatrip17 engaging in the conversation, although the specific details of their responses are not provided. The overall thread suggests an active interest in resolving or discussing any concerns with the postage costs related to these specific satchels.
Hi everyone! 🙂
I've been using the new ebay / AP XS Satchel since the beginning of the month as they have a 50% off postage cost until 30th May.
I've used them successfully up until today - but now when trying to print labels - they are showing the full price ($8.55).
I was wondering if anyone else who has been using the satchels successfully with the discount is having problems getting the 50% off now? I spoke with an ebay live chat agent and they seemed to know nothing about the issue and said the promotion for 50% off does go until the end of May.
Have gotten another person I know to try printing one on their account but they also aren't getting the 50% off.
Trying to gauge whether it is an individual problem or everyone who uses them is experiencing the issue?
Thanks in advance!

·1 year agoThank you both. I have just found the latest AP wonderful price increase list from 1/7/25.
The information is all on there, as far as I can make out it should be fine to use these satchels with AP.
They will also be selling prepaid ones at $9.70 each.
grannytakesatrip17
·1 year agoSorry, I am mistaken. The $9.70 is the postage price only.
Satchel and postage is $10.05.

·1 year agoI am not sure about using these ebay satchels through AP, after reading back a bit further in this thread.
I intended giving some of these to my daughter to use, she has an AP business account.
But she will not be interested if she has to use ebay postage labels.
I suppose eventually AP will be able to tell us.

OP1 year agoyes - that has always been my understanding - that you can use AP MyPost Business labels or ebay labels with the ebay satchels. i think the confusion in this thread by some was because at this point in time - AP MyPost Business does not have any capability to print the labels for the XS Satchel, so as it is now - you need to print labels via ebay to use the satchel. (the page you linked to mentions 4 sizes which are currently small, medium, large and extra large).
sometime after july 1st, once Australia Posts price changes are made - they are going to have an XS Small Satchel released themselves (like they do now which is the same size as the ebay ones). then the ability will be there to print labels via MyPost Business. the only good news is that there will also be a "use your own packaging" option for items under 250g, which will make for the cheapest parcel sending option.
thanks very much for posting the info here 🙂
grannytakesatrip17
·1 year agoI don’t think that 250gm is the issue as far as I understand, even though some of the extra small ebay satchels were printed 250gm, this was a misprint and you can send up to 5kg, although it is difficult to imagine anything of that weight fitting into these satchels.
Oh where did I put those lead fishing weights 🙂
So I guess that the size of the package is vital, which should measure no more than the XS satchels, rather than the weight.
I think if people are packing an item up to 250gm in any size box, they will be in for a nasty surprise.

·1 year agoWhat an absolutely disgraceful thing to happen.
I view this as unethical at the very least.
ramcycle2010
·1 year agoMy issue is that when this banner was up before ebay took it down around the 21st, clicking on the "Learn more" link led nowhere.
There was nothing more to learn, no Terms & Conditions to refer to, and therefore, nothing to indicate that they might end the promotion early.
bikeden
·1 year agoMore than likely they were hemorrhaging cash on this promotion due to it's popularity and couldn't carry another 10 days of subsidising postage.
At the end of day it was sellers who were benefiting more than eBay, and the word got out about the XS satchel, which is what the promotion was all about.

·1 year agoAP will be offering them directly in July. I'll wait till then.

·1 year agoHello again dave, I have already purchased and received 3 huge boxes of these satchels.
Do you or anyone else know if these “ebay” satchels, can be used with an Australian Post printed or hand written label, then paid for at AP please.
ramcycle2010
·1 year agoI believe these satchels should be available for purchase at Australia Post outlets from the start of June.
So I imagine you can use the ones you have and pay the postage at AP.
A hand written address or AP printed label should be fine.
I think these xs satchels will be treated just like any other AP Satchel you might already have or can purchase from AP.
curraone
·1 year agoThe trouble is that these extra small ebay satchels have on them:
"For use with flat rate postage labels printable via ebay."
So Australia Post may be sticky about using them using Aust Post MyPostBusiness labels. I suppose we can ask them after 1 July, or it may become clearer on their site then.
The good news is you can use the ebay portal and use the ebay XS satchels for $8.55 postage, which is still a small saving.
ramcycle2010
·1 year agoI'm sure I read that you can use the xs satchels with AP from the start of June, but I've just read this:
"Extra small available from 1 August 2025 from Australia Post Online Shop or Post Offices."

·1 year agoI really need to start taking screen shots of offers I receive although I am sure this one would have mentioned ebay reserves the the right to end it early.

·1 year agoDefinitely take screenshots, I've learnt the hard way to always do that now.
But with this promotion, I couldn't find any terms and conditions to refer to, so they can't just say that clause applies.
curraone
·1 year ago22. eBay reserves the right, at its reasonable discretion, to vary these terms and conditions, or to cancel or change the offer at any time. eBay will only vary these terms and conditions, or cancel or change the offer where it determines, acting reasonably, that it is necessary to do so to prevent fraud, misuse or abuse of the offer, to correct any error or mistake, or where it is necessary to do so to protect eBay’s legitimate interests. Unless it is necessary to update these terms and conditions to correct a mistake or error, or to urgently cancel or change the offer such as in the case of fraudulent activity, eBay will provide 48 hours’ notice (“Notice Period”) by publishing revised terms on the Site.

·1 year agoWELL-DONE to anonymous for alerting Ina to this!!
It's not like this is the first time ebay have ended a promotion early, severely affecting any sellers participating. And it won't be the last time they do it unless we take action.

Love it or hate it - it's just the way it is.

OP1 year agosurprisingly, the agent i spoke to and sent me the follow-up email about the promotion ending said they would cover 50% of the postage i paid to send the item off-ebay. i said that there was no 250g parcel / XS small satchel option on mypost until 1st july 2025.
i said to them that i'd sent it via 500g parcel and they said they'd still cover the 50% amount. i sent them the AP mypost tax invoice and they actually did refund me 50% of the postage cost (including additional extras id added like signature on delivery / extra cover).
might be worth a shot if anyone has the time and patience to follow it up.
ramcycle2010
·1 year agoI spoke to an agent via chat and mentioned some sellers had already received a follow-up email and had been refunded the difference.
The agent told me that they had not issued any refunds to any sellers, and that the issue was ongoing. He said I had to wait a few days to receive the update via email.
Was also advised to hold off sending parcels until the issue was resolved. How on earth can that be good advice, buyers don't want their parcels arriving late, and I don't want any defects for not posting on time.
lm-entertainment
OP1 year agoyeah - absolutely horrible advice by the agent and a flat-out lie. ive attached the message which was
in the "from ebay" section of my messages that i got when they refunded me 50% of the postage purchased via AP. i too was going to wait and see if it was just a glitch - but didnt want to screw with my postage times.
ramcycle2010
·1 year agoFeeling relieved to have just now received a refund and follow up email. But what a drama getting there!
"This is a follow up email in relation to the chat we had earlier regarding postage label promotion from eBay for 50% off postage label.
Allow me to share the Promotion runs from 1 May 2025 to 20 May 2025, as eBay reserves the right to cancel or change the Promotion at any time. As this is also mentioned in T&C of the promotion which you may go through using below link.
Link for Promotion T&C - https://www.ebay.com.au/sellercentre/promo/250g-label
Firstly I apologise for any inconvenience that has been caused to you as this promotion ended.
However just for you we have made an exception to credit 50% fee for postage label generated during time period 20 May 2025 06:45 pm to 22 May 2025 06:45 pm for Eligible postage label means, label with following services:
Sendle 250g Parcel Pickup
Sendle 250g Parcel Drop Off
Australia Post Standard Extra Small Satchel.
I have made sure you have received credits in your account for postage labels purchased during above mentioned date, which is reflected back in your account, also you may use the link below to confirm same."

OP1 year agoi am absolutely furious as most of you probably are too. i spoke to a chat agent yesterday - and they said they would get back to me as they had "escalated it" and were waiting for a response.
unfortunately, the response just came and it isn't a "glitch" it's just a bold-faced lie. they marketed this the whole time as being for the month of may - but now the official line is that it ended yesterday at ~6pm AEST.
i have sent an angry email to them showing the header on the postage page that still says that it's for the month of may - but they simply don't care. another indication that ebay is a platform for buyers and they really don't give a damn about sellers.
email attached below

curraone
·1 year agoThat is just a weird email - it doesn't make sense - the link has too many .. - it refers to 250g parcels which is a Sendle thing - weird 🤔
I would be getting back to them and ask to speak to a supervisor
lm-entertainment
OP1 year agoyeah, i agree it is a strange email - however, i do know australia post are releasing the 250g parcel labels (for using own packaging) along with the extra small satchels to be purchased directly from them once 1st of july hits. it's in their updated price guide.
i think it's probably more a case of the chat agent not actually knowing that they're not available via australia post yet - which is also why i'm not going to both trying to get any refund from them as i sent them as 500g parcels. i don't doubt though that the promotion is in fact over. if it isn't i'd be extremely surprised. i hope everyone who is also not receiving the promotional price contacts them and makes a bit of a noise. maybe wishful thinking on my part.
ramcycle2010
·1 year agoI gave them a grilling today but still got fobbed off with the promise of an email when the problem was resolved. No email as yet, and beyond disgusted that ebay still conduct themselves like this.
lm-entertainment
OP1 year ago100%. considering the fees they charge on top of everything else - they really do take the p!ss when it comes to what little is given back to loyal sellers.

·1 year agoI just spoke to an agent this morning who told me the promotion ended today . I said ,I thought the promotion was for the month of May ? So frustrating !
flip_goat
·1 year agoIn their own terms and conditions it says they will give 48 hours notice, So this definitely is a glitch. It was part of condition 22. If anyone wants to look it up
ramcycle2010
·1 year agoI couldn't find any terms and conditions for this promotion, where did you find them?

OP1 year agoit's definitely not a glitch. they ended it early and are passing it off as a "typo." very frustrating.

·1 year agoHappened to me too I already told my buyers it’s until end of May and lowered all my shipping prices don’t tell me I’m gonna have to fork over the extra for the rest of the month. The original notice said until end of May so they should honour that but who knows 🫠
cardsupplyau
·1 year agoYep, same issue here. It definitely worked yesterday, the question is - is it a glitch that will be fixed tomorrow, or has it been intentionally ended early?
lm-entertainment
OP1 year agoThanks very much for responding. I'm hoping the fact that they said it goes to the end of May (the agent) means that it will, but not entirely hopeful.
ramcycle2010
·1 year agoIt's happening to me too, the 50% off offer seems to have ended as of today. This has happened before with these offers, which is damn annoying when you've adjusted your listings to allow for the discount. As for the agent knowing nothing about it, no surprise there either. Will try to get some answers from them tomorrow.
lm-entertainment
OP1 year agoThanks for replying! 🙂 Hopefully it isn't over yet and will be until the end of May. Will find out - they said they had "escalated it" and will get an email response which I'm not holding my breath for, but hope it comes tomorrow.
