Apologies for Ignorance ... Question about Free Selling

I have had my eBay store on Time Away for most of the year because I've been painting my house. Therefore, I missed the big announcement about free selling starting last month.
I never sell anywhere near $25,000 so I would like to switch over to free selling because it will save me nearly $300 a year in store subscription fees alone; not to mention final value fees.
However, I have three questions. Firstly, if I cancel my store subscription will I lose all the listings I have created or will they remain and I can relist them as free listings? Secondly, not to be too cynical but is there a catch? I find it strange that eBay is giving some sellers free listings while store sellers continue to pay FVFs. Thirdly, I noticed one of the conditions is you have to use eBay postage labels. I have always used Australia Post. Are there any issues with the eBay labels? Do they go though Australia Post anyway?
Again, I'm really sorry because I know you guys will have been batting this around for weeks but reading the announcement didn't make these issues clear. I really don't want to cancel the store subscription and have to do the listings from scratch. Many thanks.

·2 months agoOne of the catches is that buyers will be charged a Buyer Protection Fee. I can foresee buyers being peeved by this.
In terms of eBay labels vs AP, it may be a question of working out the sums. Do you have MyPost? (Especially for volume discounts.)
And… it’s also dependent on whether the things you sell are amenable to eBay’s way of dealing with cubing and in particular a situation where the items are relatively bulky in comparison to weight (as I understand it).
eBay labels should be perfectly reliable.

Still trying to get my head around the concept of eBay lowering fees rather than raising them.
Looks like I'll be revising all my prices to account for Buyer Protection Fee, although I guess that won't help much because it will still be showing a fee which, as you said, will no doubt peeve.

·2 months agoWhy not go Pro - it's what you have been used to over 4,000+ - nothing changes - you are charged the fees you already know - you send with your own packaging - at your listed price - in a manner you choose - no eBay glitches - the buyer protection is included........................
Nothing on eBay is ' free '.

If you go with a Pro Starter Plan, you'll pay final value fees but no store subscription fee, no compulsory eBay labels and no buyer protection fee.

OP2 months agoHouse looks pretty good although being a bit OCD it's never quite good enough. Also, after a certain age ladders and sanding dust are not your friend.
Then I come back here and it's eBay / Free ... that did not compute. Maybe I should go away more often.
