Of all my listings that are promoted, only the odd few sell via promoted listing. I work on organic by posting in other lications, and this claims credit for my organic work… not good, fair or legal.

·1 year agoI would recommend contacting the ACCC. They already have their eye on digital marketplaces such as eBay. The more people report this kind of overtly fraudulent behaviour, the more watchdog organisations will take notice and consider action.

OP1 year agoI am turning off my promoted listings. Do not want to, but no choice looking at this.

·1 year agoThey could just charge you a flat advertising fee, applicable even if there is no sale. There is also the pay per click option.
They could also bring back the old listing fee, from memory $1.15 or $1.45 per item per month.
I have some promoted listings that I will let continue for now, might have a tinker with some of the rates I have set, and see what happens.

·1 year agoWhen listing fees where high the selling fee was not. I remember when it was 10c per store listing per month and 5% selling fee.

·1 year agoBefore managed payments, limited free listings, then over $1 per listing per month.

·1 year agoI started out selling lego back then so visibility was not an issue. Lately ebay fees for lego have been heavily reduced, a few months ago it was zero its currently 75% off.

OP1 year agoSome fees are fair & to be expected. But this change says that my “lego figure” that i had with a promoted listing @ 10% fee, will be considered sold -by promoted listing- even if the buyer came from an organic link that i encouraged on another advertising method. So i do work on facebook, i organically get a sale, ebay charge me 10% calling it a sale by their promoted listing. It is a open lie.
