Buyer entered the wrong shipping address. Will I lose seller promotion if I accept cancellation?

Summary: The discussion revolves around the concern of t1nyfro regarding a buyer entering the wrong shipping address and whether accepting a cancellation would affect their seller promotion benefits. curraone and *casey* engage by offering opinions and experiences related to buyer cancellations and promotions, although specific details of their responses are not provided in the content overview. The participants seem to be clarifying policies and sharing advice on handling such situations effectively.

    Hi

Unfortunately, the buyer of my listing made used their old shipping address on the order and then requested a cancellation (after already paying), I of course would then have to re-list the item if I accept the cancellation.

Problem is, I had a seller promotion for zero final value fees on that listing which was used up when the buyer paid, the promotion only applied to a single sale. If I re-list I assume that I will lose this promo and will be out of pocket for quite a large sum upon the re-sale, as the item is quite expensive.

Is there anything that can be done here on eBay's end?

The buyer is saying that I can just send it to the original address and they should be able to redirect it to their local post office using the, but I'm concerned about this potentially not working out.

    Appreciate any thoughts.

I'd say go ahead if it was a cheap item but not a $2800  item   JMO.

Unless / Until someone here can give you 100% accurate advice about being able to use the promotion again if the buyer asks to cancel, try this.

Go to eBay Help at the top of the page . Follow the prompts until you get to the automated assistant then ask to speak to a supervisor.

Explain the situation and see what they say. The promotion is valid until 10th October.

Let us know how you go.

I can't help you with the "promotional  final value fee" question   but someone else may be able to in the morning  or you could try eBay Help at the top of the page.

"but I'm concerned about this potentially not working out"

My advice to you is don't even think about posting a  $2800  Apple Macbook to a different address in the hopes that it may get redirected.

I  recommend  you cancel the transaction and if  you find out about the final value fee and relist, the buyer can repurchase with the correct address.

But if you cancel you will definitely not benefit from the final fees offer, which as you say, is worth quite a bit.

    I would not cancel.

If the buyer is willing to have it sent to the original address it will be on them, not on you.

Make sure you send it registered - with signature required.

In the real world, if someone changes their address, they go to the Post Office and fill out a re-direction form.    Then Australia Post will take care of it.

If you are feeling kind, you could ask the buyer whether they have done that.   Or suggest that they do.   But I still say it is not your problem.

I agree with the other reply, do not post to any other address, no matter what the buyer says.
