Hello,
I sold an item, $9.9 including postage. eBay paid me $8.42, I posted the item.
Today buyer said I charged him $58. I uploaded a screen shot showing the order information which displays the amount as $9.9, and asked buyer to upload his version of order details page screenshot which is supposed to shows $58.
Buyer did not upload anything, then said PayPal double charged him. So I said sorry I didn't receive any more money then I advised buyer to contact eBay or PayPal.
What could have happened guys? This is the first time I have come across anything like this. Thank you.

OP2 years agoI contacted eBay's chat agent, who said if I let buyer contact them, they will explain to the buyer why he was double charged and how to get a refund.
Then I tried my best explaining to buyer how to reach a real agent behind the automated bots. I hope he can get through this and get everything sorted. Also hopefully that won't result in a refund of my $8.42 back to him.

·2 years agoSometimes buyers get a bit confused over pending charges and then the actual charge going through. Sometimes the pending can sit on the account for a couple of days after the charge has gone through before it disappears with the net affect being they're only charged once.

·2 years agothat's more than double.....maybe he had $58 worth in his cart, so not just your item??

OP2 years agoI thought this might be the case and tried my best explaining to the buyer.
He then replied, PayPal charged him for the 3 items as a whole, then charged him again for the individual items. So you were right that he had 3 items in a shopping cart (1 being from me, other 2 from other seller or sellers), but can eBay or PayPal actually make one transaction for the whole and then make separate transactions for the items individually? I have never heard, although I kind of vaguely remember similar stuff from this forum regarding to similar incidents involving shopping carts.

·2 years agoYour buyer needs to take it up with PayPal who will then take it up with eBay.......nothing to do with you....sounds like a processing issue! eBay has lots of issues at the moment......
unless, buyer had $58 in cart and has only been charged that amount??
then it's buyer error
