Hello community. the ebay feedback system allows buyers to judge the integrity of sellers by checking on their feedback. so what does it mean when you have several buyers now having left no feedback at all ?
i am still new to this & is it that they are not happy with something ?, or cannot be bothered leaving feedback if you have done all the right things as a seller ?, or are they just rude ? i know its a voluntary system, but it is really no effort to leave feedback. am i overthinking this or should i just not worry ?

·5 months agoI'm finding this is an increasing trend, and it is rather annoying, especially when you go that little bit extra for the buyer. No acknowledgement and no thanks. I thought it was just me, but it seems to be a developing trend.

·5 months agoYes, a lot of sellers (and buyers) like to receive feedback but there are a lot who won't bother unless something goes wrong. Then they are likely to jump on to complain.
It can be frustrating for a seller I guess, especially if they went the extra mile & if they were just starting out.
In your case though, you don't have to worry, you are well over 1000 feedback and 100% positive so buyers will feel reassured. An extra one or two ratings won't affect you overly.

·2 years agoBut… padi, the incredible feedback-giving thrill! Those who are feedbackaholics must give it; the addiction is powerful. To wake in the night soaked with perspiration and trembling with the longing to give a well-phrased piece of feedback… it cannot be assuaged except by giving in (or going to a feedback addiction weaning behavioural therapy clinic).

·2 years agoLots of buyers don't bother. To be honest I don't blame them, it's a pain. The ebay interface is poor. If you buy a lot on Ebay it is not easy to see which ones need feedback. And if you buy multiple items in an order you need to leave feedback for every single item. Why not just rate the experience of the ORDER not the item?
It may be tempting to solicit feedback. Do not do this. Ultimately the quantity of feedback you have becomes a vanity thing once you're past a certain number to be credible. And yes I know it's vanity because I'm closing in on 10,000 and I've been checking it every day or so to see if I've got the 10,000 badge or whatever it is 🙂
Focus on delivering a solid customer experience. Not on feedback numbers.

·2 years agoNo you don't p9, just leaving feedback for one item out of that order is ample - any more than that still just counts as one feedback point anyway.
cam-2793
·2 years agoSure but eBay will still prompt you to give feedback for the other items, which is silly when they only count one

·2 years ago.....and, eBay prompts sellers a month later to leave f/b for a NPB??

·2 years ago".....and, eBay prompts sellers a month later to leave f/b for a NPB??"
I do find that particularly irksome. IMO once an UID is closed, neither party should be able to leave Feedback. Stops the temptation on the part of the Seller to leave a false positive, and who cares what a NPB thinks?

·2 years agoYes and no.
Sure, an order for 5 items counts to the seller as one feedback not 5. but ebay will nag buyers to leave feedback for all items.
When shopping, buyers can see feedback that was left specifically for that item. this is why Ebay nag users for feedback at an ITEM level rather than an order level. I guess that makes sense but the UI is clunky and a real PITA when you need to leave feedback for multi-item orders
I am both a buyer and a seller on ebay,. The system should be easier for buyers and allow them to leave order level rather than product level feedback. As a seller I see little to no benefit or difference between having 5k feedback, or 10k, or 50k. Once you get to a certain point you have credibility and the rest is vanity or irrelevant to a large extent

·2 years agoWhen starting out as a seller feedback is important to you and you will find in time you change your view.
Same as when as a seller to leave feedback. I would set it to leave feedback when the buyer leaves feedback. I have now changed to automatically leave feedback when the buyer pays, It will be interesting to see if I get more or less as there is no longer an incentive for the buyer to do so. But there are the odd few buyers who wont leave feedback first out of principal.

·2 years agoAs they shouldnt, they fullfilled their redponsibilty when they paid, its now up to the seller to send in a timrly and responsible manner

·2 years agoI gave up even reading feedback buyers left a long time ago unless its a negative and as I said I leave them a positive as soon as they have paid automatically. I figure this way a buyer can leave me a negative without worrying about not getting a positive in return.

·2 years agoI say this as I always leave feedback.
But, calling someone rude because they don't is well need I say more. I just hope none of your buyers see your comment, that would turn me off from repeat purchases
And the only person to answer the question ''so what does it mean when you have several buyers now having left no feedback at all ? '' is the person who didnt leave you feedback.

·2 years agoI'm someone who's been buying on ebay since 2001 and selling since 2018, and ALWAYS leave feedback for every single transaction. But that's MY choice, and yes, I REALLY wish more buyers would leave (positive!) feedback for me as a seller, but I don't expect it.
It's not really about me or my service I think, as even repeat buyers, or buyers who ask for express post or another special request and are REALLY lovely and appreciative in their messages, often don't leave any feedback.
sugar249
·2 years agoIf it's not really about you or your service, why?
The best feedback I get for my sales, or for my services, is the $'s in my pocket.
kitty-kat-kollection
·2 years agoI get that, but ultimately a lot of buyers simply do not leave feedback, no matter how good the item or service, and no matter how happy they are.
springyzone
·2 years agoYou are 100% correct.
Because it is voluntary, feedback has more to do with the nature of the buyer (or seller) than it has to do with the service you provide.
There are a lot of buyers who just can't be bothered, full stop.
I'd say there are also some buyers who don't even realise they can, or where to go to leave feedback and can't be bothered looking to find out.
There is nothing you can do to change the nature of the buyers.
I think some buyers are much more motivated to leave feedback if things go wrong. They want to complain and if they haven't had satisfactory replies from a seller, then feedback gives them a voice.
You'll notice that on a lot of review sites & on these boards, that people are more inclined to jump into print if they are deeply unhappy and feel they have been unfairly treated.
If I were still selling, I'd just take no news as good news and let things be.
Those who are routinely feedback givers will give it, the others won't unless they are unhappy!

·2 years agoI would say long time users still see feedback as important as it was what you needed to be trusted in the early days.
New users not so much and just see ebay as any other site to buy from where you can leave feedback if you wish.
New sellers feel they need to get the numbers up as it may help sales but with MBG I don't see it as important as it used to be to get a sale.

·2 years agoIt’s interesting. I message when I am posting with tracking number, and leave Feedback at the same time. I know some Buyers, particularly newbies, appreciate Feedback. Buyers will message me when their item arrives, often with very complimentary words, but not leave Feedback. So they are happy to contact me, which takes more effort than leaving Feedback. To them a message seems personal, Feedback impersonal?
My items are often unusual, even quirky, so the Buyer may want to let me know their reason for purchasing. Spoiler – I am a Seller, not a pen friend, so any correspondence on my part just aims to be pleasant enough to encourage repeat buying.
cam-2793
·2 years agoAssume no news is good news. People are more likely to leave feedback when things go wrong.
Some people wait to see how the item performs first, some wait until they have a few feedbacks and knock them all out in one hit. Personally I am less likely leave feedback if I feel nagged to.

·2 years agoA lot of buyers just simply can't be bothered
You are quite right it's no effort to do it
But as said, better no feedback than to get those buyers who either
a)buy just to neg
or
b)leave a neg because you did'nt hand deliver the item on a golden platter with a full line of backup dancers ten seconds after they paid

·2 years agoI agree, its really disappointing when you do everything right, including leaving feedback for the buyer to get the brush. Buyers dont hesitate to give negative feedback when aggrieved. This could be negated by an auto positive feedback after a lapsed time period defined by ebay where the buyer has had sufficient time to do it themselves. The assumption that everything is fine.
The alternate would be to hold your feedback until its done by the buyer?
davewil1964
·2 years agoChoose your own way.
I leave feedback when posted. Whether the buyer leaves feedback is irrelevant to me.
I get feedback these days on 20% of sales and have never had a neg on my selling accounts.
Feedback is not one of eBay's seller metrics, so it is effectively pointless. It doesn't even count towards TRS.

·2 years agono feedback from a buyer is better than bad feedback.
Even a positive green dot with a critical comment is bad.
Don't swear it, just do your best when selling.
