Can't add tracking so can't get my money
Summary: gail0709 expressed frustration with eBay's postage system as they couldn't add tracking or mark an item as delivered, affecting their payout. sandypebbles and *casey* clarified that sellers are required to use eBay labels unless specific exceptions apply. marginalia8 and collectibleclassiques shared similar issues, unable to update the tracking number in their accounts. tra_280061 noted that the system is different from 15 years ago, and addressing rudeness in the discussion. gail0709 followed up, saying they contacted eBay and resolved the issue, although system notifications persisted.
Couldn't figure out the new postage system for my first order, so I just posted it at the post office. It won't let me add the tracking or mark as delivered even though my purchaser has the parcel and has left feedback that they have received it. Can't get my payout of money until they prove I've posted it. Fix the system guys

OPAug 6, 2026 at 10:58 PM · EditedCan't believe how rude people are being about this. So we didn't realise that the system had changed, we are asking the questions now and don't need to be attacked about it. It was a simple mistake.
CollectableClassics you will get your money. I rang them and told them the problem and was told it would be release in 48 hours which it was. Note a month later and it's still telling me I need to post the parcel. I can't get rid of that message and the people at ebay didn't know how to either. They were also a bit confused why I couldn't add the tracking number too. So if the ebay don't know how their system works I don't know how we are meant to. Obviously the facebook weekend warriors are on ebay too. Ignore the haters, you're not alone. Hope you get your money soon.

·Aug 6, 2026 at 11:14 PMNobody has been rude
People have simply pointed out what sellers on free selling are obligated to do, and what those sellers agreed to do, and what those sellers have been notified of, numerous times, including before it actually cam into place
There is no 'we didn't realise' eBay notified people to the point of spamming about it, ignoring those emails is not anyone else's responsibility
Nobody is being attacked
Of course eBay staff don't know, eBay staff are not trained properly and very few actually even use eBay at all
By all means tell others to ignore factual advice, but perhaps also tell them if they continue to violate policy, eBay may shut their accounts down
Before you accuse others of being 'rude' and being 'warriors' and 'haters' read the information you ticked that you 'read and agreed to' when you listed
If you are looking for sugar coated nonsense , this is not the right place to find them
Most people here give, and always will give factual replies based on current policies
Policies that have been agreed to by the user

"but i can't get paid"
As mentioned on your own thread, as long as you're registered to sell, verified with both your personal and bank account details, your funds should become available to request a payout 31 days after the buyer paid.

·5 days ago · EditedWow…e_purchasing….why be so rude? People come here for help not sarcasm. I have the same problem…but I went to the PO and as the system couldn’t print the eBay label so I sent it in a prepaid satchel, as I didn’t want to be late sending it. EBay system has changed in the past 15 years since I last used it, but unfortunately the attitude of some hasn’t!

Factual reply
Sellers on free selling are obligated to use the eBay labels
If they choose to ignore that obligation, they do not get to use their own tracking instead
If you last used eBay 15 years ago, it is your responsibility to read up on how selling works now
Why should ‘our attitude’ change because others don’t know what is required of sellers?
Hopefully you at least did what was required for Managed Payments

·1 month agoOH! The woes of ignoring requirements under free selling plan . Then blaming the system for it. Sniff!

·1 month agoI have exactly the same problem. I've asked Australia Post to delete the automatically generated tracking order but no response. On my ebay account I can't replace it with the one I got at the Post Offfice. No option to change the tracking number. No response from ebay and the system now says postage is overdue, so I'm stuck.

There's nothing to fix.
You're Free Selling and the only exceptions to using eBay labels are :
Items sold for less than $20, or over $5,000
Items that may be sent in an envelope. These include: trading cards, comics, magazines, coins and banknotes, jewellery, CDs/DVDs/video games, patches, postcards, greeting cards, seeds, stamps, stickers and decals
Items where a label isn't available, such as heavy or bulky items
Orders where the buyer selected local pick up
You could try going to eBay Help at the top of the page, ask to speak to an agent and mention the buyer's left you feedback. They 'may' release your money earlier.
As an 'occasional' seller at the moment, you'll be subject to transaction holds anyway

·1 month agoThere is no new postage system
You need to post per whatever you are on (Free selling/Pro or whatever)
Other members cannot fix it, posting here is not communicating with eBay, regardless of what the blurb claims
eBay help is at the top of every page, although they are of little if any 'help'
