I had a buyer return a very expensive item with some damage. I tried to deduct the damage but the process kept failing. So I contacted Ebay to help. The agent said he had successfully issued the refund with the deduction and there was nothing left to do on my end.
This morning I got a message saying the case had been closed in the buyers favour. Not only was the deduction not made, I didn't receive my FVF back, which was over $600.
I have contacted Ebay who have told me a whole bunch of BS about how the FVF isn't refundable if the buyer opens a case. I have tried explaining that it was me who contacted Ebay and not the buyer but have been given the run around.
Suggestions on what I can do? It's a lot of money to lose.

If yes, hurl it at them as you 'acted in good faith'

I sold a Louis Vuitton Spring Street handbag to a customer once, a structured handbag, not a floppy one. She decided she didn't like it 3 weeks after receiving it so I agreed to give her a refund if she returned it to me. Instead of using the box she had received it in, she wrapped a sheet of brown paper around it and put it through a mail !
Of course what arrived was a squished pancake, completely destroyed.
eBay Aust issued her a refund.
eBay USA over ruled it and refunded me.
Good luck

·3 years agoContact the dept of fair trading? I know with telstra the minute you start threatening complaints with the telecommunication ombudsmen things get sorted quickly. Keep complaining! Demand to speak to a manager. Lodge a complaint with ebay telling them the next stop is the dept of fair trade . Don't let them get away with this.

·1 year agothat will not work. The telecommunication ombudsmen gives a fine to every mobile provider for every complaint lodged by default, regardless of complaint. I think is around $1200
that's why threatening complaint with the telecommunication ombudsmen works
doesn't no apply to ebay
eBay has no business in AU, is an US company. I mean they do but the eBay AU arm is just a company with offices that deals with advertising and customer service. Not a marketplace.
