eBay is misleading and giving misinformation
Summary: ray8083 sold an item with a local pickup option, but encountered issues with obtaining a pickup code on eBay, suspecting that eBay's system forces sellers to use postage options to release funds. lezned-toycollector and another participant asked clarifying questions about the transaction, such as whether the buyer used the correct option and if payment was received. ray8083 confirmed the buyer had paid, funds were held, and they personally knew the buyer, indicating no scam concern. lezned-toycollector reiterated the importance of using the local pickup option to avoid such issues.
I just sold an item for which I offered local pickup, we arranged a time for him to do the pickup as he is only a couple of kilometers away from me.
When it came time to confirm the delivery details we realised eBay had not sent him any scans or codes to him for me to put in to confirm delivery. Also they do not have anyplace on my pages they mention for a code or scan to be entered. So basically it seems eBay is ripping me off by forcing me to post everything so I can get paid or else wait God only knows how many months till they release my money. And eBay wonders why they are becoming irreverent in the ecommerce world.

·2 weeks ago · EditedSince you haven't bothered to answer, I'll ask the very same question for a second time....
Did the buyer checkout using the local pickup option, or did they select a postage option?

OP2 weeks agoSorry but I wasn't there to witness what he clicked on, but with our previous conversations he said he wanted to pick it up. Maybe he clicked the wrong option I just don't know. But eBay doesn't mention that this option is removed if they pressed the wrong button.

·2 weeks ago · EditedNobody asked nor expected you to witness the buyer completing checkout... that's just absurd.
It would take you less than 2 seconds to check the order details to see the "Buyer selected postage service"... the very spot you look at for each and every item you ever sell... but if you prefer to withhold the relevant information, you have very little chance of anyone here just guessing the details.
At the end of the day, you're obliged to use the buyer's chosen shipping method - as displayed on the order details page.
If it's local pickup, you simply don't release the goods until you've been provided with the pickup code - no exceptions - end of story.
If it's any other shipping method, that's exactly what you must use. No pickup code will be generated if this is the case, but you will see the option to add tracking.
Based on the limited information you've provided, it really sounds as though you've ignored correct procedure and just gone off and done your own thing - and your reluctance to share the relevant information kind of supports that theory.
But again... I'm just guessing

And especially those kinds of items at those prices

·2 weeks ago · EditedDid the buyer checkout using the local pickup option, or did they select a postage option? The latter will never produce a pickup code.
Has the buyer actually paid? Unlike previously when cash on pickup was a payment option, the pickup code isn't available now until after the buyer has paid.
Whichever way, I wouldn't be handing anything over without the pickup code. No code = no goods.

·2 weeks agoIn that case, without proof of pickup or delivery, you will just have to wait for the funds to be made available.
