Ebay request for me to "rate a buyer"

Curious to know if anyone else has been asked to rate a buyer, or if this is a new thing.
The ebay request relates to a sale on my other ebay account. The buyer had asked if I could make a special item. It was not easy working out colour choices - having to go back and forth via the messaging system while making sure messages didn't incur the wrath of the bots. The result was a lot of messages - which may have triggered the ebay rate the buyer request. Or?
(I left the requested rating, which included the fact that both buyer and seller had persevered with ebay's inadequate messaging system to the credit of us both. I highly rated the buyer.)
I hope this isn't a new thing, although some of the sellers who come to these boards may be delighted.
