l recently sold a pair of headphones for AU$40
l paid $10.93 for shipping
in the end only $23.41 was deposited in to my account,be careful with your margins fellow sellers

·6 months agoThat's nothing. Wait till eBay slugs you on the $1350 watch ! You could buy a plane ticket with that and hand deliver it to a buyer if sold elsewhere.

·6 months agoI don't sell, but if I listed an item at $40 with free shipping, I would know that that meant I was personally covering the shipping in my asking price. So if shipping was almost $11, that was only ever going to leave you about $29 to start with. Then of course you pay selling fees on the $40 total.
So how much did you imagine you'd be walking away with?
It seems to me the biggest chunk out of your cost was for shipping so yes, you'll either need to sell your items with 'plus shipping' or significantly raise the total cost if offering free shipping.
Your other option is facebook marketplace where you can list for free. It may not be as convenient and you may not have as big a potential market as usually things sell locally, but for instance, you might get $30-$35 for it, which would leave you better off.

They are shown prior to selling and they are indeed what they say they are
You also offered 'free' postage, which as you know does not exist so of course you paid for it
Advice would be be careful selling if you don't know how things work

Fees would have been $5.66 (13.4% + 30c), plus shipping @$10.93 equals $16.59. Balance $23.41
Thats what I would expect to pay for a $40 sale, except for postage as I don't use eBay labels.
Or do you somehow think that shipping shouldn't be a cost?
