Have I missed something?
Summary: A participant initiated a discussion titled "Have I missed something?" but all posts within the thread contain no content.
I have been with Ebay for 20 plus years mainly as a buyer. Now I have started to sell.Sold two items recently for around 13k.Ebay are holding all of that?????With one sale going overseas and the postage is $2550 which the buyer has paid but Ebay will not release funds?????They expect me to pay postage out of my own funds to deliver the item? Can you imagine if it was shipped in a container it could be months before one gets reimbursed. On another note has any tried the chat to resolve issues?Tried three times and have been transferred to another section a total of 14 times. Is this a ruse?
Would love to hear from you guys.

·2 months agoIf the OP entered the QR code for the pick up item, the payment definitely shouldn't be on hold for 30 days
Because of the high price of the item purchased from the overseas buyer, and if it's been posted, the payment would generally be on hold for 31 days
Other than that, this should apply:
An Occasional Seller
Sellers who haven't yet established a strong, consistent track record or who don't have any recent selling history will receive their funds 24 hours after delivery confirmation (for tracked items), or 31 days after the buyer pays (for items sent without tracking).
If you previously qualified to receive your funds faster as a new seller registered as an individual, you may experience this hold if you haven't sold in a while. If you do, you'll receive your funds 2 days after delivery confirmation or 14 days after the buyer pays.

OP2 months agoThank you all for your advice etc.Clearly these days it seems payment holds are common with Ebay.Dare I say it is about getting interest on the money held.Anyway I have removed all my listings and will look at other ways to sell my items. Thanks again

·2 months agoYes, it’s about interest….but also fraud

·2 months agoIf you entered the QR code for your pick up item and the funds are still showing as 'on hold' in your seller hub payment tab, which they shouldn't be, click on Contact Us at the bottom of the page in this link.
On the right hand side you'll see the automated assistant. As to speak to an agent or supervisor regarding release of the funds

·2 months agoGood advice, however, casey, I have to say the run around you get from the automated assistant is so frustrating! I don't know how many times today I had to ask to speak to an agent, and I had everything prepared beforehand to try to make everything as easy as possible.
I have nothing positive to say about the automated assistant, after having been caught up in their loop many times and wasted heaps of time on it 😠
However, that is just another 'enhancement' that ebay has introduced and we have absolutely no alternative. (I don't have insta so not an option for me.)
Please don't think I'm having a go at you; you're one of the most valuable posters on here 🙂 I'm just venting my frustrations with the ebay systems.
Soap box over! 😀

OP2 months agoSeriuosly I have wasted hours speaking to the so called agents and assistants.Been shoved from one dept to another countless times. All read from the same broadsheet and always start with we see you have been with Ebay for over 20 years thank you for your loyalty. But when it comes to answering questions it becomes oh you are in the wrong dept can I transfer you to somewhere else? And on and on.It is the same when one actually can get a phone call from an agent. This has become a nightmare.OK if one buys. But based on my short time as a seller it is not worth the effort.

·2 months agoWishing you all the best and do persevere with obtaining the payment for your pick up item worth $7,710.70

Where from ? Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree ? Highly unlikely !
eBay
We've removed cash on pick up as a payment option.
Buyers can also open an 'item not as described' case within 30 days, even for a pick up item, even after
thoroughly inspecting the item and it will be the seller's responsibility to pay for the item to be returned
Yes, even for a heavy pinball machine
We can also make it very difficult for you to receive your payment for a $7,710 pick up item ...
while we collect the interest $$$

·2 months agoIf you are new seller then you have to wait 30 days for your funds to be released.

·2 months agoI can’t imagine a brand new seller selling anything without knowing anything about selling, let alone a massive amount of money like that
Especially with a high priced item going overseas, that is one sure way to be scammed by a buyer
If you fail to ship within your handling time, that will result in defects and possibly closure or your account by ebay
Chat is useless, they are not responsible for any of this and since you do not seem to be signed up to Managed Payments and verified to sell, there is literally nothing they can do
Managed Funds have been the only way for a buyer to be paid for over 6 years now
You really need to end any unsold items until you know how selling works

I'm only replying because nobody has actually answered your original question with a straight forward "yes or no" response.
The short answer is "Yes"... but I'm guessing you've already worked that much out by now 😜
Sorry I wasn't around to share this extremely valuable information sooner

·2 months agoUhm, you have missed a lot.
You are required to ship the item in your stated handling time, you do not get to wait to receive payment from ebay, you will probably allready receive an account defect for that.
If the OS item has not been shipped , cancel the sale, at this stage you will only lose ebays fees. Otherwise I have a feeling you are going to lose the lot.
Might also be a good idea to remove the rest of your listings, until you know what you are doing.

·2 months agoFirst of all, you need to be registered to sell, fully verified with both personal and bank details
https://www.ebay.com.au/help/selling/getting-paid/registering-seller?id=4792&srsltid=AfmBOoqLCWh6IvmjA2RyF7wLlw7n4DItY_RtRE0M5blwCHPVy3od5nEx
Transaction holds will apply but your payments will be On Demand
https://www.ebay.com.au/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold?id=4814&srsltid=AfmBOoqiARYoPLOP_6qfwxlLb-oI4x7RPbrZ7JOodKKRtxIoD2OAy6yp
I recommend you end your current listings until you''ve completed registration successfully,
It's not always straightforward.
Your items are high priced and I recommend you only list with domestic postage.
All an overseas scammer has to do is open an 'item not as described' case with eBay's Money Back Guarantee and you'll lose your money and your item

Go to Help (top/bottom of screen) and type in Managed Payments….it’s been this way for years….come back here if you get stuck….good luck!

·2 months agoIt is something that has been in place for years, and is the ONLY way you will get paid.
It might pay to read up on eBay selling or you are in for a world of pain.
Additionally, eBay hold funds for up to 30 days for new/occasional sellers (which you are) and for high priced items (which you have sold), so you will be waiting a while, even after you sign up to MP.
