I hear a neg is coming 😣 this must be one of eBay’s unluckiest buyers!!!

Summary: designers*n*more initiates a discussion regarding an unfortunate event where an eBay buyer is reportedly about to receive a negative feedback. The discussion involves few participants like curraone, springyzone, and bikeden, who engage with the situation. hobby_cds and springyzone also contribute to the ongoing conversation, sharing their reactions and insights.

I sold a box of business cards on Friday 26 Sept (public holiday in Victoria woohoo so we were away for the long weekend and got home late Monday night 😁).

Now, most of the time I get parcels out within a couple of days or so, but, I have my handling time at 10 days, which, is clearly noted in the listing with estimated delivery times and an eBay pop-up message advises potential buyers of the longer handling time prior to committing to purchase.

On the early hours of 3 Oct I processed postage, packaged the item ready to lodge at AP. I work during the day so don’t read eBay emails until I get home. I had lodged the parcel at AP later that afternoon.

As I was going through my emails I saw I had an eBay message from the buyer, a rather curt email.

”We paid for this on the 26 September and you have dispatched it 7 days later. We have now purchased it somewhere else We will not be here to receive it so we are are lodging a claim as it will be returned by the post office. I am also leaving negative feedback.” A bit harsh but anyway…..I saw no point in responding to this type of message at this stage.

Now take into account, a public holiday and weekend, buyer is in the same state but rural area,  I lodged the parcel on the 5th business day which was Friday, well within the stated handling time. Parcel has arrived today at the PO.

At no time prior to me processing postage did the buyer contact me saying this was urgent or request express postage.

Now I will wait to see how she goes lodging a claim, given she is going to refuse collection. (Not covered by MBG if she refuses to collect)

I thought I’ll have a look at the feedback this person leaves for other sellers…..well I nearly fell of the chair. I lost count after 83 negs left for other sellers in the last year, barely any positives! 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨

I will happily add her to my special buyers list 🤪🤪🤪

Belligerent buyers abound.  Difficult to avoid unless you check their feedback before shipping and that's too time consuming.  In event of public holiday we do email buyers of extra one day delay.

We turn negative feedback around by replying to unfair ridiculous claims with facts and evidence.  Leave out your emotions and show future buyers the stupidity of the buyer and move the blame (when they are wrong).  Obviously your buyer is just a nut case with nothing else to do.

Shipping time and delivery is the first and most important aspect now and buyers always praise or bemoan in feedback for the responsibility of others... aka Australia Post in most cases and out of your control.

The vast majority of good sellers like yourself do the right thing, solve it and move on...

My wife had two a few weeks ago in her account...Buyer 100% received the items and opened a dispute saying he didn't receive them...Ebay sided with him even with proof of delivery. He claimed in the feedback he didn't open a case and he didn't want his money back....She had one removed but they wouldn't remove the second one....Absolute disgrace!

That is a disgrace. If the ebay reps have written evidence in front of their eyes that a buyer made a mistake or didn't want a case opened, they should remove the negative feedback.

The only good thing though is other buyers can often see if a negative feedback comment is unreasonable and they will ignore it.

This reminds me a little bit of something I saw on facebook today. Not feedback as such but about star ratings.

I think the message is, sometimes you have to hope others can see if feedback isn't fair.

If your estimated delivery dates had not passed, I don't know why she was getting her knickers in a knot.

I would also hope that ebay will have your back on this one and will refuse any claim she might make.

I can understand that a seller taking a week to post something isn't going to suit everyone, but the key fact is that the estimated dates are in the ad and buyers need to take note of that.

I think a huge thing here is the sheer number of negs this buyer has given people in the last year. That's just not right. I realise that these days, buyer feedback is not directly affecting sellers as far as their ebay account status goes (or so I believe to be the case). But all the same, I feel ebay should still monitor or flag accounts where negatives are the norm.

Something is wrong here. If I as a buyer had 83 really bad experiences and hardly any positive, I would have long since left ebay. Any normal person would. No, I don't believe her. She is obviously quite happy overall with what she is getting on ebay.

Either she is taking exception to small issues or she is playing games where her whingeing often gets a slight seller refund, off the books.

But in any case, if sellers contact ebay and a rep sees her history, they should be willing to act.

I know on these boards we often say ebay doesn't take account of anyone's good or long history but I think in some cases, they should.

Of course, a rep would need to look at the facts but at the same time, if you have a consistently good, long term seller having a problem with a buyer who almost only ever gives a negative, time to call a halt to that and I believe buyers should be told when a neg is removed and why.

If you do get bad feedback I would appeal it to the last ditch.
