I sold an item on the bsis of local pick up, but the buyer was interstate and asked me to post the

Summary: raymondvalerie sold an item under the terms of local pickup, but encountered a situation where the buyer, who was from another state, requested for the item to be shipped instead. The post initiated responses from several members, but the content of these interactions is not provided in detail.

I sold an item on the basis of local pick up in Mc Crae 3938 and the buyer was in Cesula NSW. The buyer asked me to post it to them and confirmed in emails he would pay the postage cost. I agreed and posted the item on order 01-14501-22***. and delivery was on 16 April 2026. to date I have requested the buyer  being ****** to send me his cheque as payment but he will not respond to my emails or send the payment. Can eBay contact him and tell him he should meet his obligations, and keep me informed

Nothing to do with ebay, it was an agreement between you and the buyer.  Ebay has no idea if you have been paid for postage or not.

    No

Other than eBay have no idea (they do not read here) you need not abide by the correct process to be reimbursed for anything

Other members cannot see anything from the order number

You are not allowed to 'name and shame' here on the forum

Agreeing to anything in emails is meaningless

No postage cost was in the listing and so if that is arranged outside eBay, you don't get to get that payment through ebay

Also, leaving the comment about making funds available in your feedback is pointless, the buyer (who the feedback is for) has nothing to do with holding your funds (and especially not harass the buyer in feedback to do anything)

You need to be signed up to Managed Payments and be verified to sell, and be aware the holds on your funds you agree to when listing, really do apply

As an occasional seller, they apply each time you have a gap in selling

You should not have posted the item until you had received full payment including the postage.

Personally I would have cancelled the original transaction (presumably with the 'pick up only' option), and relisted with the postage added.

Ebay will not help and by posting the item they would assume you were satisfied with the transaction.

If the buyer has not responded to your messages, I doubt they will end up reimbursing you for the outstanding postage.
