Is it safe to share my bank customer ID and password with eBay?
As eBay sellers you've all received the "Getting paid on eBay has changed" email from ebay and tried to set up payment through Payout settings. To create payment account you need to ad your bank, eBay asked meto use my customer ID and password. My question here is it safe to share my bank customer ID and password with eBay?
Thanks a lot.

·3 years agoIt just sounds SO dodgy!!! We are told not to share bank account details with anyone ... eBay is no exception. You need to find another way, eBay I just don't feel comfortable with it - especially, when I've had multiple transactions within the last week, and now all of a sudden I have to verify my details.

·3 years agoeBay is bound by Australian Government regulations to prove the identity of it's sellers by getting both bank and identity details - that's a simple fact.
Unless you provide those details any money from your sales will be held by eBay until you do so.

·3 years agoDid you not check T & C before listing. Suggest you do before you sell anything more. There is an automatic 30 day hold on funds for infrequent sellers anyway so no money will come your way straight away

But then again what do you expect from an organization that offers no accountability for there actions, I mean have you ever tried talking to one of their representatives on the phone! NOT POSSIBLE ANY MORE!!!!
I got onto a third party chat for ebay and to proceed any further I had to pay $2.5 for just asking question about my ebay account.
There is no way I will give them my password and in fact I just called the bank (westpac) and asked them about this and they said that if you give ebay your password you will be violating the banks terms and conditions! So ebay are asking you to violate the banks conditions now!! That says it all. I have had to verify my bank details now 3 times in less than a year even though there was NO problem receiving my funds from sales.
This is just the start I think....What hoops will this $7billion profit a year corporation ask us to do next????
I have chosen the micropaymets option and I have to wait a day for this to work...I mean this is all run by comps and IA now so why the wait? Because they want your info that why....

·1 year agoA third party is exactly that - a third party and not ebay.
Of course you don't give your bank details to 'a third party'.
Ebay will never ask you to pay to answer questions.
