I got a message from someone wanting to buy my product, they messaged me a QR code to 'verify' the purchase but when I went to the website it asked to input my bank details, address and password to my account. It just seemed suspicious. Any help is appreciated

·4 months agoIn this day and age, it really is UNBELIEVABLE that eBay will block messages containing addresses / contact details for a pick up item before payment's been made
BUT will allow SCAM messages like this go through from a newly registered ID in Poland.
Several recent reports of this have been made elsewhere. ALL sent through eBay messages.
For the OP and for all new sellers, you'll be notified by eBay when your item is sold.
REAL payments will show in your seller hub
Be sure to have all your buyer blocks in place

Report all scam user IDs to eBay and hope they'll do the right thing !

·4 months agoYou need to sign up to Managed Payments and be verified to sell before you sell anything
And you need to do so through the appropriate link provide on the eBay website, not via a text message some random sent
A QR code only comes into things when a buyer is picking an item up from you in person
Please no 'normal' buyer is going to word things the way this person has
It screams total scam

·4 months agoUnfortunately, partial filling out means anything you typed has been handed over to the scammer.
You will need to be hyper-vigilant. Ask your phone provider to require 2-factor authentication for any changes… Ditto bank. Regard messages and emails and calls with sufficient suspicion to prevent becoming a mug. You’ll especially be likely to be targeted repeatedly as filling out (even partially) that “form” already makes you look like a suitable target (as in, you were lured into giving away personal information even if you didn’t proceed any further, so you could be lured again and again).
