    Item for Sale

Item for sale has not reached an acceptable amount. Am I obligated to sell to the highest bidder?

You’ve fallen victim to the terrible “advice” offered by eBay to attract higher bids by starting low… but this has been nonsensical for years.

It is rare that a bidding war results from an eBay auction nowadays; you need to be prepared to sell at the price which is reached in the auction. I would suggest you always start an auction at the lowest price you are actually willing to accept. That is your built-in “reserve”.

    Yes you are

Why start at an amount that you find unacceptable in the first place?

If you refuse to sell to the highest bidder, not only will the buyer leave you a neg, you will also get a defect on your account for refusing to honour the sale

Have you made sure that the item is not too long for Australia Post to accept?

Have you fully completed sign up to Managed Payments and been verified to sell?

And understand their will be a 30 day hold on your funds?

Ebay recommends starting at a low price point so followed that advise. New to selling so would have set a higher price.

    What is an "acceptable amount"?

Was it not you who set the staring price?

If I was the winning bidder I would expect to receive the item.

So the answer is ... yes you are.

...you still have nearly 3 hours to go.....if you wanted a higher price, you should have started at an acceptable amount.

While you are not obligated to sell, what will your excuse be? The buyer will have every right to leave you NEGATIVE feedback.
