Just after some feedback. I usually make between 10 to 20 sales per day, and these sales come through consistently. It's now the afternoon, and I haven't made any sales in around 24 hours. I know this is a very short period of time, but it's highly unusual. I am a Top Seller and have 99.6% feedback. Do you think it may just be an eBay glitch? Cheers!

·2 years agoSales have continued to slow. Now only getting 1 sale every few weeks. Totally ridiculous ! Have gone from several sales per day to 1 per month. Can not sustain running a business this way. This happened since ebay introduced the paid sponsored adds in sellers listings. Potential buyers find my listing , click on it, then see all the sponsored adds selling identical item and are then diverted from my listing. These sponsored adds are too expensive for small sellers so we will have to close up our ebay store and concentrate on our other selling platforms.
sugar249
·2 years agoAh how do you know they are looking at your ad than clicking off and buying a sponsored item. Just speculation or trying to justify a problem with your products.
springyzone
·2 years agoThe economy is not great and a lot of people are feeling the pinch so i think some will have cut back on spending.
I actually think you have a point about the sponsored ads. I can't speak for all buyers but yes, I have sometimes been diverted by them and I do tend to cast my eyes over them and sometimes, yes, it leads me to another seller who has the identical item for cheaper.
I opened one of your ads ( for a dog house/cabin in grey) which cost $210 with free post.
Under the ad, there were several "similar items" on show, but the trouble for you was that 2 looked identical, so I opened them. Both look to be from Australian based sellers. One of them (with an extra $10 off on offer) comes to less than half the price and also has free post. Feedback 99.4%
I could be wrong but I think a lot of buyers would go for one of the cheaper options even if they had opened your ad first.
In contrast, there is another kennel of yours in a natural fir colour and none of the 'similar item' suggestions are actually identical, so anyone who wants that style will probably stick with you.
I don't know that you can do much about it as you are selling new items that some other sellers may carry.

·2 years agoI wish to sell more not be so slow eBay is making all my listing to 0 views
sugar249
·2 years agoJust because you list items it doesnt mean anyone wants them, not Ebays fault.
And besides some I have lo0oked at are overpriced, why would people look at them
springyzone
·2 years agoI don't think ebay is making all your listings 0 views as such. People just aren't looking at them. I had a look at your item list and chose the second I saw, Sin City (DVD, 2005). You have it listed as $17, with $5.95 postage.
Then I did a general search for that exact title and your listing did not come up on my first search page (which shows 60 items). Your item comes up half way down the second page for me.
And there are 9 pages!!
So your ads are not being hidden at all. If someone searches a particular title, they will see your ad. Second page out of 9 is not too bad.
But it means some of your items at least are in a very competitive market.
Probably no one is opening your ad for Sin City (hence no views) because when I cast my eye over the ads on the first page, I can see the same thing for $3.92 (free postage) or make offer, advertised as like new, by an Australian seller with 100% feedback.
If I were looking for this DVD, I would probably buy from them. But a lot of the other sellers also have it at way under $17.
For you to get the sales you are after, I think you may need to aim to list items that are a bit more unusual & don't have hundreds of others exactly the same on offer.
Or else reassess your asking price, though how that other seller can list a DVD for $3.92 or cheaper, with postage, I don't know, as I can't see how they would be making a profit. They are a big seller though so may be able to wear a loss to clear some items.

·3 years agoRead the replies on the question you asked.
You should lose the auctions & list as BIN... buyers generally don't want to wait for an auction to end for clothing.
This will also enable you to send offers as per your question.
sugar249
·3 years agohave you looked at your pricing?
*sons_n_daughters*
·3 years agoYou're selling pre worn clothing. It's a saturated market. The items you have aren't really going to be that popular going into winter. Plus, your prices are quite high compared to other pre worn clothing sellers that sell the same brands.
PS you should have some views on some of your items. Some of the titles were a bit ambiguous, so I clicked on them. No, I'm not buying any of them.

·3 years agoI've been selling on ebay since 2007 and I've noticed a huge reduction in sales esp in the last 2 years. I used to be able to sell heaps of items per week, now I am lucky to make 1 sale per month. Ever since they introduced the list 250,000 items for FREE every month I noticed this has killed my sales on ebay. I dont pay the extra amount for views so basically my items are not getting the views like they used to. I'm kinda glad though because I do much better on other selling platforms 🙂

STOP leaving FALSE POSITIVE FEEDBACK!

·3 years agoIf you keep leaving false positive feedback for bad buyers, the good sellers would prefer you left anyhow,
Must admit I am amazed at how many bad sales (non payers) you have had, raises questions.

·3 years agoI have had no sales for a month. Very odd !
marcia549
·3 years agoJapatech can I ask if you do any promotional listings ? Can anyone notice a difference in sales AFTER joining ebay plus or paying promoted listing ???? Economy is one explanation for sure but the drop in my sales was so sudden it seems odd.
japatech
·3 years agoWe do 10% to 20% promotions and not much of an increase in sales but now we lose 10 to 20% of each sale to Ebay. We are going to go back to no promotions as just can not afford to pay for promotions.
oddsandendsoz
·3 years agoIt is a gamble a bit. I don't use 'promoted listings', I simply do discount coupon codes and sales across listings of say 10-15%. It does increase sales a little. It was better a couple of months ago before the economy tightened even further due to the interest rates and mortgage stress.

·3 years agoI have noticed a big drop in sales since December. I am doing all the same things . Sales have dropped by 50 - 60 % which is quite significant. Some days no sales which has previously been unheard of. It seemed to happen quite suddenly and views and watchers down as well... makes me wonder if My listings have somehow become less visible as I do not pay for any promotions etc. Is this possible ??
davewil1964
·3 years agoYou are selling discretionary items.
In case you haven't noticed, the cost of living is outstripping wage increases. A reasonable extrapolation is that there is less money available for purchasing discretionary items.
marcia549
·3 years agoYes understandable.. but can't help wondering if I am far less visible for not joining Ebay plus and paying the extra for promotions. I suppose the only way to find out is to try it. Just eats into the profits more and more obviously so have been resisting. Thanks Dave.

·3 years agomore reasonable is to believe ebay once again messed up the website as per usual and wont be honest. a lot of big words to explain greedflation but.
repentatleisure1952
·3 years agoUsing the word "honest" is a bit rich coming from someone who chooses to ignore eBay Policies,
lotzofuniquegoodies
·3 years agoFor what it's worth many sellers on dot com and ca are reporting the same off the cliff drop on sales for the last several months. Guessing buyers have found their favourite websites for shopping and sticking to it.
For 15 years I could consistently do 30 to 45 sales per month. Now 15 to 20 is a blip. More likely to be 10 to 12.

·3 years agoI think the economy is perhaps the biggest issue right now. As others have said above, those sellers in the discretionary categories will be suffering the most (unless they are in very unique or niche collectors markets).
The problem on eBay is that these issues can be compounded by tech issues, and the 'lights on/out' and 'throttling' issues. There are things we as sellers can do; promotions as one example and it does appear to me at least that regularly listing new items does work to an extent. But the throttling is real; I can go a week without a sale and then get 4 or 5 in a few hours and then back to nothing. This cannot be explained by the economy, interest rates, or any other macro force, it is simply eBay turning your lights back on. More evidence of this, is that on another major platform, there does not appear to be these same 'clusters' of sales followed by complete silence.

·2 years agoHi,
Wondering if your sales have picked up. We've been experiencing this now for over 6 months. We used to get really consistent sales then BAM nothing! Our reviews have always been positive and we changed nothing on the campaign to warrant such sudden drop. To add insult to injury, we then receive a monthly email telling us our account is "below standard" and will be terminated! We are averaging a token one sale per month via this platform.
Be great to hear back for you/anyone having similar issues and if a solution was ever reached.
