Has anyone else had payments from selling an item put on hold, as i have been using Ebay for over 20+ years and have never had a payment put on hold, as the only thing i can find is that they can hold payment for upto 30 days which is not right, considering we have sold the item and it has been picked up, and ebay have taken there portion out but still no money. Also canot find any where to actually be able to contact a cust service person apart form a useless Virtual Assistant. Very peeved of customer

·9 months agoI was placed on payment on hold for poor delivery performance. 2 decades on the platform, 100% feedback. Of course their stupid AI doesn't take into account being unable to post let alone lodge anything across the counter to USA because of Tarrifs law change or Canada during 3 week postal strike. Their AI help line goes around in circles and "contact agent" is broken. Ebay Big Brother now earning millions in interest from withholding funds whilst letting scammers flourish

·1 year agoThis has just happened to me! I have been a seller for 23 years, since 2002. I cannot find anyone to talk to at Ebay apart from some AI response. I use the buyers payment to pay for the postage. I am feeling extremely frustrated!!!

·1 year agoFrustrate away.
You have one feedback for selling in the last year. You are considered an intermittent seller by eBay and your payment will be on hold for 30 days as a result.
All clearly laid out in eBay's T&Cs when you listed. Assuming you bothered to sign up to Managed Payments.

·1 year agoI am not sure why you believe the policy that applies to every other new seller/infrequent seller/sellers who have not sold in a long time (which you agreed to when you listed) would not really apply to you?
Be frustrated at yourself
How long ago you joined ebay does not come into it

·9 months agoHi ! You are not the only one who is frustrated. My payments on hold for no reason.100% positive feedback.
97% performance with postage.I have sold the item to US (new custom rules). Unfortunately item returned back due to new US custom rules. As result -payments on hold. In this situation -only eBay has a benefit.
Money on hold already for 1 month..

·1 year agoIt’s so stupid. That is happening to me right now. I’ve sold for years and only had payments on hold for small periods of time in the beginning. I just sold an item at auction that sold for over a thousand dollars and they put my funds in hold for a full month. Even when provided tracking and delivery confirmation via signature confirmation and positive feedback from buyer, they say this is an “extended hold” due to the price of the item. I’ve sold many items of similar price and this is the first time this happens. I have several other items that will sell for similar prices and I will simply not list them on eBay. eBay definitely took their cut right away, which at this point is almost 12% of the sale price. Customer service refused to help. Definitely taking my business elsewhere like everyone else is doing. It is unsustainable to be an eBay seller at this point. You pay all the fees, do everything correctly and all you get is this kind of bull.

·1 year agoThe best policy Ebay put in place, protects the buyer. Thanks Ebay

·1 year agoSame here top rated seller never in 18 yrs had a return or problem untill now! ( Except the postage dramas of miss calculated os quotes and scanning bqr code for it to upload wrong and no one tells you why!) Iam at day 63 and from a chargeback no less that the bank closed days later ,I issued eBay a letter from buyers bank 19/6 stating they closed it on May 23 and have no way of reopening the case once closed but eBay keeps saying they're waiting for the bank to close it and not one person at the call centre will actually help stop this madness , dubious terms of 2-8 weeks "or more" that were extended " from hereon " after I escalated the issue I have left and will never return after this **bleep**! Greedy is the one that bites the hand that feeds them.

·2 years agoJust to add to the other answers. Ebay's policy of being careful when an account that hasn't had any sales for a long time, is reasonable. Their precaution is to cover cases where an inactive account has been hacked and is an added protection for the buyer.
If ebay are holding funds that means the buyer has paid and the goods must be posted. The hold on payment to the seller is only until they have established, or reestablished that they are legit.

·2 years agoEvery single seller who has not sold in some time will have a 30 day hold on funds. eBay sees you as a 'new seller'
It does not matter how long the person has been using eBay
You agreed to the policy when you listed the item and ticked you had 'read and understood' box. so if you think it is 'not right' yo did not have to proceed with the listing
Your last feedback as a seller shows 'more than a year ago'
The holds are not new and are no secret
And yes, sellers do need to supply the item within their stated handling time
Contacting eBay is not going to get you special treatment
Have you indeed signed up to Managed Payments and been verified to sell?

·9 months agoSo what happen when their system sells to Canada when 3 week postal strike doesn't let you lodge across the counter at Australia Post and Fedex is 12x the price you were paid. Same with USA traffic stoppages. Ebay AI is brainless
sandypebbles
·9 months agoNot sure what you mean by 'their system sells to Canada', you as the seller choose which countries you sell too
Yes, AI is very brainless

·2 years agoBetter read the T&C's before listing again - they are what you agreed to.
