Payments Have Been on Hold Since Converting My Account to a Business Account
Summary: aussieshub is experiencing payment holds on their eBay account after converting it from an individual to a business account. They mention that payments are held until two days after order confirmation, leading to cash-flow issues. They have contacted eBay support but received inconsistent responses. Other participants suggest that the payment holds may relate to account performance, feedback, or selling practices like drop shipping. They emphasize that feedback percentage and sales metrics could influence payment release, and it's suggested that holds might be tied to broader eBay policies on unusual account activity.
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone here can help me understand an issue with payment holds on my eBay account.
My eBay account was created in February 2026 as an individual account. At that time, when buyers paid for their orders, the funds normally became available to me very quickly, usually within 24 hours.
On 1 July 2026, I converted my account from an individual account to a business account. I submitted all the required documents, everything was approved, and the account was successfully converted.
However, immediately after the conversion, eBay started placing my payments on hold. Now, when a buyer pays, the funds are usually not available until around two days after the order has been confirmed as delivered.
This has now been happening for almost three months.
I have contacted eBay support several times, but unfortunately I keep receiving different answers. Some representatives have told me that the holds will eventually be removed automatically. Others have said that this is part of a new policy and may continue. I have also been told that uploading tracking quickly and maintaining good order performance may help.
Because my sales are gradually increasing, more and more money is being held at the same time. The money coming into my available balance is much slower than the value of new orders being placed, which is creating a significant cash-flow problem for my business.
My main questions are:
Is this payment hold temporary after converting from an individual to a business account?
Is there a specific period, number of successful orders, or seller performance requirement before these holds are removed?
Has anyone else experienced this after changing their account to a business account?
If the holds were eventually removed from your account, how long did it take?
I completely understand that individual orders may sometimes be held for security reasons. What I am trying to understand is when the ongoing payment-hold status on my account itself will be removed so that funds can become available normally again.
Any advice from sellers who have experienced the same situation would be greatly appreciated.

Payout holds
Performance holds: Payouts are held if we identify unusual activity associated with your account, such as increased customer claims, a sudden change in your selling activity, late deliveries, or negative buyer feedback
I assume you hit the Quadrella with your business on eBay

Funny thing, anyone can see public feedback, even if they do not have eBay yet other members are asked why funds are being held are we are not suppose to look at feedback
Or at least not suppose to point out a feedback score which is not good, or the fact most positive feedback was left by ebay bots and not real buyers
OP, most members here are going to give factual replies, based on policy and what we can see in front of our faces. Even without looking at you feedback or listings, you gave yourself away with the cash flow comment
Sorry, but no policy states you can do as you do and be paid right away,
Just like the other drop shipper with similar items etc who wanted to sell and be paid on the spot

·1 week agoFirstly, for other members to offer an opinion, having a basic look at your account performance is relevant.
While we can see your feedback % and comments, which may have some bearing, We can not see your sales metrics which are likely to be more valid.
You appear to be drop shipping and as such do not have control over shipping time and the timely upload of tracking, which can both trigger holds, in addition your FB numbers for the last 6 months, tends to indicate a significant increase in sales, which can also trigger holds.
As for how long you are likely to be subject to holds, that is at the discretion of ebay, especially if the triggers are constantly re-applied .
As far as the holds having an impact on cash-flow, as a drop shipper it is a requirement that you are the owner of items, before they are listed, so this should not be relevant.

OP1 week agoI have 99.4% positive feedback. 🤷♂️

·1 week agoNot great, and as said, most of your positives are eBay automated were the buyer had no input
99.4% for a high volume seller is not as good as you seem to believe it is

OP1 week agoYou seem far more concerned about my 99.4% feedback than I am 😂
I asked about payment holds, not for a performance review from a self-appointed eBay auditor. Yet somehow you’ve reviewed my feedback, listings, photos and business model and still haven’t answered the actual question.
At this point I’m genuinely impressed by how much time you’ve invested in my account. Should I send you the login details too, or have you seen enough? 😂

·1 week agoNot to mention the massive amount of eBay automated feedback, Padi
Plus the OP wants to hear from other sellers in the same position
Given none of the regular sellers here are drop shipping junk and using lifted photos from shonky websites, I’d say exactly zero are in the same position
The recent other drop shipper wanting to know how they can be paid instantly for such behaviour might have some advice
