Posted Item Instead of Pickup – Buyer Won't Confirm Collection
Summary: aussiewilliamsf1 faced an issue where a buyer selected pickup, but due to distance, the item was posted instead. The buyer received the item but is unresponsive regarding the 6-digit pickup code required to finalize the transaction. This lack of action could result in a refund to the buyer, causing aussiewilliamsf1 to lose the item and postage costs. sandypebbles and *casey* provided suggestions and insights, highlighting that funds might be held due to lack of positive feedback or the seller's recent inactivity. gutterpunkz05 asked if there was any prior communication with the buyer about postage before deciding to ship the item.
Buyer selected pickup as the delivery method.
The buyer lives on the other side of the country.
I posted the item to them instead of arranging a physical pickup.
The buyer has paid, but the funds are still on hold.
The buyer has received the item.
The buyer is unresponsive and will not provide the 6-digit pickup code needed to complete the transaction.
Without the pickup code, I cannot finalise the sale.
If the transaction cannot be completed, the buyer may be refunded.
I would lose both the item and the money I spent on postage.

·3 weeks agodid you have any communication with the buyer regarding postage before deciding to post it, did you provide the buyer with pickup details before deciding to post.

·3 weeks agoExcellent point
The buyer might have been travelling interstate for any number of reasons, or have moved states and not yet updated their address etc etc
Hopefully it was not just posted off with no communication prior

·3 weeks agoYour funds are on hold because you have not sold in a very long time and will be seen as 'new' by eBay
Have you completed everything required by Managed Payments? (verified your bank and ID)?
Unlikely your funds will be released earlier than the 31 days, especially when the buyer has not left positive feedback

OP3 weeks agoI don't think that is what is happening here.
I can clear out the item from "awaiting postage" because it will only accept being picked up.
If this sits here for too long, it will be marked as no action being taken and refund the seller.

You should have cancelled the sale and asked the buyer to buy again choosing postage delivery.
The pick up code also helps prevents a dishonest buyer from opening an item not received claim. Let's hope your buyer is honest.
The code acts like a tracking number.
Without it, and as long as you're registered to sell, verified with both your personal and bank account details and signed up for managed payments, your funds should become available to 'request a payout' 31 days after the buyer paid
