    Promoted Listings: Standard vs Priority

Summary: In a discussion led by ultimateexperience-au, participants gutterpunkz05 and davewil1964 engaged in an exchange regarding the differences between Standard and Priority promoted listings. The responses from both participants did not include any content beyond acknowledging the topic, and therefore no specific viewpoints or conclusions were presented on the matter.

    Hey everyone,

Just wanted to get some thoughts from other sellers on this.

I've been testing Promoted Listings Standard with a pretty healthy ad rate (around 25%, which is well above the suggested range). I chose this route since it's Cost Per Sale (CPS) — you only pay if someone buys. Seemed like the smarter choice.

But here's the thing — I'm getting barely any impressions or views this is for blue light glasses, even after letting it run for a few days. No major category issues, title is optimized, and pricing is competitive. The listing is active and in stock.

I then tried Priority (Promoted Listings Advanced) on Cost Per Click (CPC) and can see views and clicks.

    Is this normal?

Is anyone actually getting solid visibility with Promoted Listings Standard anymore?

Or everyone being pushed toward CPC (Priority) if you want to be seen at all?

Would love to hear what’s working for others  especially in competitive niches.

    Thanks!

I don't use eBay promotions as I consider them a waste of money.

I only use standard promotion, so can not say if one performs better than others, most of my promotion rates are at or lower than ebay recommendations, which also allows me to reduce prices on unpromoted items.

If you are promoting the glasses at 25% then approx  38% of your sale is consumed in ebay fees, add to that the cost of providing free postage is consuming approximately another 12% of the sale price, so you are clearing approx 50% of your sale price.  Not sure what makes your glasses higher value than many others on ebay, but you might like to try significantly reducing you buy now price and deleting or heavily reducing promotion rate, you may even have room to then add a postage charge to the listing, to recover some of the savings actually passed on to the buyer.
