If it's always been a problem, have another look at your settings.
But if it's only been in the last couple of years, this can happen when the following is ticked under:
Buyer Management > Buyer Rules
✔ Require all buyers to provide a payment method before they make an offer
It originally started on the US site with eBay trying to enforce autopay on all auctions and offers which created problems with the usual combined shipping.
If it's ticked, untick it > Save changes and see if it solves your problem with your future sales

·5 months agoIf they are trying to buy using a mobile phone, they will not get the "request total" button. Ask them to use a desktop or laptop computer.

·5 months agoI’m not sure if this is still ‘a thing’ but buyers can also set their preferences to immediate payment…..can any buyers confirm?
