While we understand a downturn in retail - but this is the very worst sales week EVER in 20 years selling on eBay - 1 sale in 6 days at this time of year is beyond belief. We have had ONE normal sales day in a month.
Is anyone else having similar problems?

·1 year agoAgree with all comments above. And what has happened to our HELP? It is non existent now. I've been trying to sort out a problem and have been unable to contact anyone at eBay. If our customers are going through something similar no wonder they are leaving eBay in droves.

OP2 years agoIt is getting worse - not one single sale in 5 days yet Etsy has improved

·2 years agoYes things are getting more difficult - the economy is worse, there is more competition from sites like T#mu etc I also think that eBays promoted listings is actually slowing sales down.
The more people use it, the more people who don't use it see no sales. Unless you can get a *huge* profit margin from items, promoted listings don't work.
Essentially this fee grabbing tactic is pushing ebay more and more to being a 'cheap junk over-sold' outlet. Sellers of quality products can't pay the high fees & so go elsewhere. Shoppers want everything cheap so more & more cheap rubbish gets sold.
It's a shame as the foreign sellers already get a *huge* fee reduction from Australia Post. It's a race to the bottom 😞

·2 years agoWhen we had shops 25 years ago, January was always our best month selling renovator products, but now selling discretionary products it is always our worst. We have had 1 sale on our own website & 1 on an Ebay store both on New Years Day & thats it for now. However this January is our worst ever in the first 8 days. Our records show past years usually pickup about middle of January.

·2 years agoHave had the quietest 2 months since I can remember and then - March - busy weekend!
It seems someone has just turned the lights on!! Very odd!!

·2 years agoI also have periods where it seems the lights have been switched on !!! And also switched OFF for periods of time. I do not pay for any further sponsoring or promotions and wonder if this is a result of being shoved further and further to the back of visibility. I feel like I make little enough now as it is with buyers wanting everying cut price and if I keep giving ebay more and more it will just become not worth my efforts. Has anyone found promotions make much of a difference ?

·2 years agoI absolutely refuse to pay for promoted listings.....IMHO, I would get rid of the background of photos taken 'on the floor' or throw down a blanket (or such-like). Maybe, someone who uses P/L will be around shortly....

OP2 years agoWe pay for promoted listings otherwise nobody sees our listings as they would be pushed back in search
At the moment with all the sports on TV, school holidays and eBay messing with the site as usual, sales are pretty well non existent. So far this month we will be running at a loss.
Also people are flooding to other sites like TEMU etc plus of course people don't have any fritter money left in their wallets.
This time of year is usually quiet for us & picks up when folks get their tax refunds but it has never been as dead as this in over 20 years of selling on eBay

OP2 years agoYes, even though sales are really dead at the moment, listings would not be seen without them. We do not pay eBay recommended prices though - just a flat percentage across the board.
