    They're hijacked accounts.

All accounts have had information added to their "About" page and all their profile images have been  copied  from readily available Google images.   Check out the OP's.

Interesting to note  the country  / image /  of the  one on  Richo's thread (hijacked)  which  brings up the real  profile of

Excellent sleuthing. But I still ask - why would these hi-jacked accounts be asking questions on eBay discussion boards?

When the first thread was posted  (it's since been removed), it was in perfect English.

The poster said they were new and  asked for tips on buying   clothing  and electronics.

No-one would have suspected a thing.

A couple of regulars gave excellent tips but when I queried them on their feedback , a reply to me said

    "Marketing, thanks"

At that stage, it appeared to be market research and when Kenya came into it,  even possibly AI related.

BUT when I  started digging deeper  and checked  their images,   their 'about' pages  which indicated  the items

they were about to sell, it looked like they were  setting up the accounts to fraudulently list items.

Now I know they were 'testing the waters" on our boards  to see if the accounts were still active and could

be used, because a few of the hijacked accounts have now had their  locations changed from Australia to Brazil.

And beware everyone, some of the hijackers are online  here right now

"wasting our time if not genuine"

Look out for posters who have given kudos to an eBay announcement.

    Here's another two time wasters

So someone help me out here. What is the point?? I assume this is not the work of individuals. So it is an attempt by who? what? to negate, undermine, discourage useful advice which is being given on eBay discussion boards?

I don't believe for one minute, these questions are from  "real / genuine" users requiring  selling advice

I haven’t replied earlier and this is more of a faux-reply than a how-to reply.

If a seller hasn’t the know-how to write descriptions for the items he/she sells, hiring someone with that know-how seems the best course of action.

Using AI to generate such descriptions has severe limitations, and as it’s increasingly used by people who cannot or don’t want to put in the work themselves, these will - also increasingly - become a stew of bland and similar-sounding description-doodah.

Asking for this on a public board seems like going to a surgeon and requesting step-by-step instruction for self-surgery, or to Porsche and asking for a build-it-yourself kit with extra Porsche parts donated by the company.

At least they used a capital H in their question.  But that was probably automatic.  They are gonna need a lot of help.  Better off going to ChatGPT.

Call me cynical but IMO, there's a good chance springy's information is being used for other purposes.

OMG I thought it was a genuine query. I hope I haven't given away anything vital.

I don't understand why anyone would bother asking and wasting our time if not genuine.

I did think the query was a bit short and if their ads were as lacking in detail, then they might not do so well.

    I'm a buyer.

    Forget compelling as such.

Think accurate, factual, detailed, set out so it can easily be read.

I quite like bullet points for some items.

You need compelling photos-clear and several of them.

    You need measurements or sizes.

If your item is like several other items on ebay, then you need the point of difference-quality? brand?

You can set out sales terms in the ad but if they end up longer than the ad itself, it is a turn off. You really don't need to add much.

Mainly (as far as I am concerned) your ad has to come across as clear and detailed enough so I don't feel I have to ask you several questions, but that you probably would be helpful if buyers do need to see extra photos etc

Maybe have a look at other ads in the sort of categories you might sell in. See which ones appeal to you the most and try to  analyse why.
