Two days ago the package details section changed to multiple choise - no custom size option
Summary: The discussion centers around a change in the package details section, which two days ago shifted from allowing custom size options to presenting multiple choice options instead. peters6086 initially raised this topic, and it prompted several responses from other participants, including twyngwyn, lezned-toycollector, and davewil1964. The conversation involves clarifications, sharing experiences, and seeking solutions regarding how to adjust to this new setup. Participants are discussing the implications of this change and how it affects their operations.
Normally I specify calculated postage in my listings, but this week it changed to multiple choice. All I can do now is choose from 9 preset sizes and weights - see screenshot. Is this affecting everyone, or have I done something wrong? This is the browser interface. Apologies if this has been discussed already. Can't see anything here about it.

OP8 months agoThis is still happening, so yesterday I started an eBay chat session to get help with it. They said this is a new feature to make it simpler for new sellers to understand. They sent me a link to use the Seller Hub interface instead. In there, I can enter dimensions for calculated postage.
So this is a permanent change. I'm curious about why there aren't floods of complaints about it here. Are you all using the Seller Hub interface?

·8 months agoSo yet another 'enhanced' experience from ebay that we didn't need.
I use 'Sell similar' but thaven't listed anything new for a while, so don't know if that's affected or not. Shouldn't be, but you never know with ebay.

OP8 months agoI've just realised I have to hit the quote thing to quote a message I reply to here. I've posted a few replies that aren't obvious who I'm replying to.

OP8 months agoCan anyone confirm whether they're still able to enter custom dimensions in the web interface, for either labels or Australia Post? I'd like to know whether this is just me, or if it's everyone.

·8 months agoTry flat rate, especially if you're using AP.
If you want to play eBay label games, refer to the many threads about that.

OP8 months agoBut then how do I deal with orders from different distances away?
peters6086
OP8 months agoAs a workaround I can still set calculated postage dimensions in the iPhone app, but if I then revise the listing in a browser, it changes it to the 10kg option.
Bizarrely, the iOS app includes options for "Check in" and "Carry on".

·8 months agoIt might be the fact that you’re using labels……and we know from multiple threads, that eBay are ‘fiddling’ and they’re riddled with errors??

·8 months agoCan you go to ‘sell similar’ on one of your own items, and tweak from there?
peters6086
OP8 months agoThe choices are the same if I choose Australia Post.

·8 months ago"Shoebox", "Briefcase", "Carry on" and "Check in" are all Sendle sizes. Good luck with buying those labels 😂

OP8 months agoMaybe a programming error switched it to show the old Sendle options.

·8 months agoOh, and of course it changes to 10kg. That's the option which best matches the weight and dimensions you've entered (700g 29x10x32cm).
As long as you maintain the same input, you'll always reach the same outcome. To achieve a different outcome, you first have to change the input.
So, if you want it to default to a lesser weight, then you must first enter smaller dimensions.
