I’m confused why I can’t get anyone from eBay to help me. I’m being charged a $4 adjustment. It says it’s because the item I sent was bigger than reported. I checked and that isn’t true. It was also my first time selling something, so eBay paid the shipping not me. Can anyone tell me how to get help from eBay?

·1 year agoEbay customer service is the worst ! It will take you one thousand year to search the chat button, once found, you need to type "an essay" before an agent can chat with you online. Agents have limited authority and you won't be able to escalate the case to a customer service manager as the agents claimed they are the ones who have the full authority to handle any complaints. Go somewhere else with better customer service support.

·1 year agoIf the customer paid for express post and you sent by regular mail ebay will bill you $4.

·1 year agoNot sure what you mean by Ebay paying the shipping, but even if they did as a promotion, it would have only being based on the dimensions and weight you provided, the Ebay labels are based on your input, not Ebay;'s.

·1 year agoYou might find it more accurate to use calculated p&h or a flat rate. Which you choose, don't forget that ebay charges a full commission on p&h, so build it in.
Your ads are all showing as $8 p&h, which worries me a bit. If they can't go as a large letter, that isn't enough. If they can go mas a large letter it will depend on whether or not you want them tracked etc.
However, I've never used ebay postage labels, so maybe someone who has can help.

·1 year agoMeasurements and weights must be very precise if using your own packaging. A couple of mm or a few gr can be sufficient to incur the wrath of AP.
Ebay may have paid for the original postage, but you would still be responsible for additional charges/penalties if the weight and measure was understated.
Note: AP in transit measurement verification systems are not foolproof, but I think you will have to raise the matter with AP, I don't use ebay labels so in case of errors deal with AP direct, after all I would assume that ebay has merely purchased an AP label and paid on your behalf.

·1 year agoDefinitely. Measure and weigh your items, or use AP flat price postage. And refrain from marking your response to another member as a solution.

OP1 year agoHi, I’m happy with their answers so I marked it as a solution. Is that the wrong thing to do? I’m new to this. I’ve decided I must have been mistaken. I’m just taking this a lesson learned and I’ll pay the $4.

·1 year agoWhen the AP in transit verification system first came in, I got pinged for 1 side of a parcel being understated by 5mm, from then on I always overstate the measurements to be safe. Also make sure you have a good and very reliable set of scales, again I normally overstate the weight to the nearest 50g. Rather than having my scales regularly calibrated, I instead regularly verify my stated weights against AP scales upon lodgement.
When the AP system gets it wrong, they may and usually require photographic proof of your parcels weight, however during transit the weight of a parcel may be verified numerous times, and if the measurements are only found to be understated on one occassion out of 2 or 3, then it is normally sorted out with AP quite easily and further evidence may not be required.
Also note that AP's measurements are taken at the widest/longest point of any particular side, so be aware of any bulges or irregular dimensions.
