Will my account be terminated if I'm unable to verify my account details?
Summary: dmr77david is concerned about verifying their eBay Australia account due to lack of a passport or driver's licence, needing to use a Proof of Age card instead. They are unsure if this card is acceptable since it lacks an expiry date and are worried about potentially losing selling privileges or their entire account by the August 10 deadline. sandypebbles questions their Managed Payments status and suggests checking if their state allows the Proof of Age card as a substitute. shoppingbag* reassures that an expiry date might not be necessary, as age can only increase over time.
I'm in desperation mode here. I've just made my first ever sale on eBay Australia, but I fear that it may be the only sale I ever make because eBay is asking me to verify my account details with either a passport or a driver's licence.
I don't have either of them. All I have is a Proof of Age card.
I wasn't made aware that this was a requirement for casual sellers, and there's no way I'll be able to get neither a passport nor a driver's licence in time before the deadline, which in my case is August 10.
If I'm unable to verify my details before the deadline, what will happen to my eBay account? Will I just lose selling privileges? Or will my whole account be terminated and I have to either make a new one or sell on other sites like Gumtree instead?
UPDATE - I chatted to an agent, and was able to resolve the issue by using the number on my Proof of Age card for the Passport option. Everything's all good now!

·Jul 16, 2026 at 10:23 PMI take you you did not sign up for Managed Payments as required prior to listing the item?
It has been a requirement for every seller for well over 6 years now
No, you cannot make another account if this one is terminated by eBay
Any other account you open will also require you to sign up for Managed Payments, same process
Does eBay allow the proof of age card from your state number to be input into the driver's license field? (apparently some states can, some can't)

OPJul 16, 2026 at 10:45 PMI'm from Victoria, so I can see how that would work. But my Proof of Age card, as far as I know, doesn't have an expiry date. It has Date of Issue, but not an expiry date.
As for Managed Payments, I don't know if this is the way to sign up for it, but I went to the Payments section of the Selling Hub, and under Manage, I went to Selling Preferences, and I made both Payouts and Selling Costs defaulted to my bank account. Is this correct?

·3 weeks agoI don't see why you would need an expiry date. The proof of age card at a certain date proves your age, you can only get older in time not younger, so an exiry date would be irrelevant.

OP3 weeks agoYeah, I was able to sort it all out after chatting with an agent about it. I just used the Passport option and used the number on my Proof of Age card.
