      Cryptic Stuff

While it was done some years ago I see, I thought I would try a cryptic crossword-like thread for fun and to try and boost a little more interest here. I made up the below question for anyone interested in such a challenge. I thought the first person to get it correct might come up with the next question. A clue though - if you copy one from a newspaper or magazine etc., the answer can often be found on the internet. I can explain the answer for anyone who asks.  🙂   The prisoner at the cave would not stand for the electrically charged droplets of water. (12 letters)

Why was I asked to log on to my bank account to set up my ebay account?

I sold a camera and when I was asked to set up my acc, i was directed to a site to select my bank then asked to log on. By the way, i did not. Just seemed a bit strange.

How do I contact ebay to make a formal complaint against a seller?

Purchased an item on 14th August.  Received a message from them saying they were preparing the order and their courier refused delivery because it was outside their delivery zone. They asked for an alternative address and mentioned preferably residential. (Address is residential) so they can try several couriers. They said they would refund. Then said refund failed. Told me to open a cancellation request. I won't do this. The menu of the cancellation request process is not even closely applicable for customers to request a cancellation. There is not an option that says 'seller wants me to cancel' or 'seller won't post' They said they had contacted ebay, and ebay had told them to tell me to open a cancellation.  Next message from them was quite strange. Message after that said to open an item not received case. Well, can't do that until after the estimated arrival date. Read through their negative feedback reviews. They try this tactic on many customers. My bad. Should have read the feedback first.  This member really should not be on ebay. They lack integrity. Don't believe couriers refused delivery because of zoning. Couriers deliver Australia wide.  Item location was listed as being in Kemps creek.  Nothing on their listing about not posting to WA.  The interaction feels like A.I.

Why has the Australia Post Domestic Regular Letter Untracked option suddenly disappeared

I regularly list new items to sell on Ebay and in the last 24 hours the option -  Australia Post Domestic Regular Letter Untracked - is no longer available. I can't list anything without tracking on postage.

INTERNATIONAL POSTAGE OPTION NOT WORKING ON NEW LISTINGS FOR AUSTRALIAN SELLERS??

Hello everyone, my new listings do not give me the option to post worldwide or internationally. It seems to show that it is possible but then when you click through and list it only ships domestically to Australia - this is only happening on any new listings including if I 'sell similar' from ones that were legacy and working correctly. This needs the attention of Ebay staff please advise!!!

Why have you removed the ability to select 'Australia Only' from category searches?

It is incredibly frustrating considering you convert USD to AUD in the listings, you click on something only to find out it is in (predominantly) the US. Why would you remove the 'Australia Only' sorting option? Seems eBay just likes to continually make things harder and harder for buyers.

      EBay excessive fees

I joined EBay in 1999 so been here a while with thousands of deals but I recently listed a motorcycle service manual on EBay Oz, it sold to a buyer in the USA. I had the size and weight listed correctly at 1.1 Kg, EBay under charged the buyer postage, when I got to the post office the postage was $10 more than eBay had charged. So after I received my payout $60.81 and deduct postage $57.15 I received $3.66 for my sale! The eBay fees are out of control and greedy! So after I contacted eBay and they refunded me $10 postage as they agreed their Oz postage rates were wrong!  so let’s look at the fees sale price $25 +their postage rate $51.56=76.56x12.18% =9.33 plus .77 international fee + .27 final value fee +$1.04 gst =$11.41 so my $25 sale is reduced to $13.59 that’s minus 45.56%. And if EBay had of charged the correct postage it would have received even less! can somebody please explain how selling on EBay is a good fair deal?

I’ve posted an item using Australia post & not eBay’s label, which eBay insisted I use

Now it is registering as not sent and I sent the parcel with tracking on the 1/6/26 and I can’t add a correct tracking number, why does eBay insist on you using their labels on some items and not on others ? I don’t understand

      Buyer protection fee

Hi, if anyone can help me with the following, it would be greatly appreciated.   I recently had a buyer offer of $15 on one of my ‘buy it now’ items. While I rejected the offer, I received the attached sale break-up from eBay, saying that I would be charged a $1.39 ‘Buyer protection fee’. Essentially, I would receive $13.61 from a $15.00 sale.   I don’t have a pro account and so was under the impression that the buyer would pay this fee. I’ve checked my plan and it’s definitely ‘free selling’.   Perhaps I’ve misunderstood the process and I’m being about thick. I’ve tried using eBay’s help option, but I didn’t find it very helpful at all.   Thanks.
