Are there significant number of items in your house that have not been used(and probably will never be) in years?

I am certainly not a hoarder. I prefer to live like a minimalist.

But because my cupboards and wardrobes (except in the main bedroom) are mostly empty, my adult kids are slowly filling them up with stuff they don't want to clutter their own homes with!

I am a hoarder when it comes to boxes ie. mobile phones, laptops, software, dvd players.

I keep thinking that if I ever sell these items, having the original packaging would help to sell at a higher price. So I have cupboards neatly stacked with boxes, that I have not been touched in years.

I think I need professional help. :^O

I have about 60 years worth of stuff.

Honestly...someone should start a service to come into your home and assess what you've got and offer to buy it/or sell it on the internet for a $$ price of course...If I knew of one, I'd certainly hire them...but there'd be the question of security I spose.

I have to admit, I am a bit of hoarder, we have way too much stuff but I'm trying to be really good ATM & get rid of some of it (not all :-D)

Most of my hoardings are family things, things I wouldn't seel or give away, hoping the children want them...

I am a hoarder with cars and engine bits

I'm down to 2 cars and 2 motorbikes but then the man has 3 cars and 1 motorbike and I'm also looking at buying another car, but NOT selling what I have.

My pride possession is a blow off valve for an aeroplane. Why do I have it?

Also gadgets.. must have gadgets. Got a limited edition DS I dont use. I bought it as they were not released in australia, then there is the other DS, wii, 2 lappy's PS3, ipad none get used except for the ipad

I also can not throw out my cameras no matter their age or how broken they are

I am a COLLECTOR

it all depends on the quality of what you collect!

30 sterling vesta cases....

150 sterling cigarette / card cases from 1820 to 1940....

9 Australian cedar chaises / mining couches1820 to 1920.....

25 silk and wool hand made persian rugs....

4 Victorian houses.....all heritage listed.....

No hoarders around here

Yep I am a hoarder of books...thousands around the house

I know I should part with some...

but

I can't, I really cannot...I might want to read them again or start reading the new ones:-(

I am forever buying more books

I have so many and I know I have to cull them, but where do I start?

Am trying very hard to no longer have the desire to keep as much as I did. Once I moved a few years ago I down sized by half....that was a huge task and I have missed a couple of things:(

Have lost count of my crates containing all my fabric and associted bits and pieces:8}

darki - Lifeline here (NSW) have bi-annual Big Book Fairs, a good cause to donate unwanted books.

They make around $60 000, each fair.

Charity shops would take books too, failing that recycle facility if your council has one.

I am not a hoarder. I do have some books/toys my children had when they were smaller and they need to look at them now they are adults and see if they want to keep any, if not they will be moved on.

I have a fair bit of china/ornaments ( 2 dinnersets that were gifts and never used them for years.) that sort of stuff that doesn't ever get used.

I was a hoarder - of books, as I'm an avid reader. Books everywhere, on shelves,in cupboards and on floors. Now since I've bought my ereader most of them have gone to charity and I store what I want on the ereader.

Some I've kept, because of their quality or binding or other reasons, but the majority have gone - and left so many spaces. No more books to dust, much more space I just love it.

sometimes I just want to throw everything out but can't, I would need a large skip and have no where for one until I filled it.

I have been getting rid of stuff over the last 6 months and I have been donating most of the stuff because if I were to try listing them on ebay I would put a high price on items in the hope they wouldn't sell.

I woke up one morning about 6 to 8 months ago and realised I no longer wanted to be a hoarder but it is very difficult to get rid of stuff.

It is slow going because I have bits and pieces all over the place and now everything has to be grouped properly so that all items have all their accessories with them.

Also I don't have the room to sort through things easily.

One person said to me that they would have 10 times as much stuff as me but because I am in a tiny unit it looks a lot but she has a 4 bedroom house and lives by herself and the 3 spare rooms are all in use re storage.

I took on collecting motoring magazines for a few years.

It clagged up the house, Then stopped.. thought better of it.

Like Richos, Its all good and will sell most of it eventually.
