They've gone for a break.

These are usually interesting because they discuss the network design along with the roll out figures and obstacles.

Senator Birmingham wasted half an hour attacking Mike Quigley before they got down to talking NBN roll out.

Research is good!

The fibre roll-out passed 13,014 premises in the quarter to September 30, taking the total to 52,014 premises. This means that in order to hit its 341,000 target by the end of next June, NBN Co must ramp up its rollout operations. Of these 52,014 premises, just 6358 have taken an active service on the NBN.
In late January, the National Broadband Network Company released its latest set of rollout statistics covering the period up to December 2012. At the end of December, the company said, it had some 34,500 customers using the NBN, with the majority of those (23,100) using satellite services, and the rest predominantly using the network’s fibre offerings.

"NBN Co said it took around four years to achieve a 13 per cent take-up rate of dial-up technology, six years to hit a 28 per cent take-up rate of ADSL and 15 years to attain a 34 per cent take-up rate of HFC technology. "

Well the NBN might actually beat those figures having ensured that all the competition in the form of :dial-up, ADSL, HFC is removed (but hopefully not after September.

NBN Co refers to "premises where construction has been commenced or completed". But Mr Turnbull says no construction is required to have taken place because the firm's definition of construction commenced refers to the phase of work where construction firms can start detailed design and field inspections, or where NBN Co has released a rollout map and starts engaging with the local council and community.

Isn't the NBN going to be compulsory????

I mean part of the deal was to rip up all other options.....

Besides... we are not a silly people.. I would take it up if the cost was the same, better to get in early before you are forced to.

Even though the NBN Co. and the Feral Government has tried to make NBN a monopoly they have not succeeded nor will they 🙂

For the record, the asbestos issue is not impacting the roll out as the remediation work is done by Telstra in the months ahead of the NBN starting to roll out to the location.

Tree density is causing some wireless issues in some areas. More fibre will be used in some areas and sat and wireless will be less defined until on ground geo mapping in roll out areas.

That is ALL that has happened so far is blah blah blah. I would not be at all surprised that the "asbestos scare" is just justification for progress to be so far behind.
