I HATE migranta!!!!

i know I know they are not illegal.....

They come here by air...

They hang arround at our airport and at our local shops jibber jabbering in their own language...

They invade our orchids picking fruit....

They take up all the residences stealing food from our babies mouths...

AND this morning I had to clean up the mess they made in MY garden!!!!

Are you sure they're rosellas, Mugssy. My number 4 son and DIL live opposite Embleton golf course and whenever we stay there we are woken in the morning by a screeching squawking chorus of rainbow lorikeets that sleep in the trees edging the course.

Despite being beautiful to look at they are nasty, noisy, aggressive little beggars. The council gets rid of them pretty smartly if they show their faces down here in Bunbury - though we've had the odd one or two visit our bird feeder.

Apparently their predecessors were escapees from Perth Zoo.

We have heaps of Rainbow Lorikeets around our way. One of my neighbours (not the cat one) feeds them and they come in their dozens!

aawwww but how could you not love this little innocent cute face?

screams for loving and pats and cuddles......

gee I almost kept a straight face typing that :^O love my bird, but he is messy and loud and territorial and grumpy and will suck you in with his cuteness then rip your finger off and laugh at you while swearing:|

It's not the little, innocent face I don't love, Chuk. It's the little sharp spiteful beak and the big loud raucous voice. They had some in the big walk in aviary at the bird park here and the ungrateful little sods used to descend on you like a squadron of Messerschmidts and peck your hands till they bled when you went to feed them.

Our problem is that hey are not native and are forcing our not so pretty but much quieter and less destructive 28s out.

i had one as a pet when I lived in SA, poor thing was disabled and kicked from the nest. Never grew nice feathers nor learned to fly.

They're native to Australia Chuk, but not to WA - same with kookaburras.

I hate it when they poop on my windows just after I've cleaned them.

This is rainbow lorikeets though.

Just before I moved house last yr, a bunch of these took up residence in the big gum tree on the front lawn. They were very loud and screechy in the afternoon and the car did get covered in poop (usually in the garage but with moving in and out of the drive most of the day).

Could hardly hold a conversation with another person outside, they were so loud. Never saw them before in the previous 7 yrs we lived at that house.
