So who cried today ?

We sent Miss 12yo off to her first day at Highschool today. The past 7 years have just flown by.

As I walked back to my car all I could think about was the same trip back to my car 7 years before...her first day at Kindy...

my kids went back yesterday.

Mr 9 to year 4 and Miss 12 to Year 7.

Kids dont go to high school here though until Year 8.

I still see her as my babygirl, but she looked so grown up today.

So next year is the big one for you Amy, eldest going to highschool...

I told Miss 12yo she isn't allowed to come home possessed like her big sis seemed to after her first day in year 7 lol. Thank goodness she has snapped out of it now.

Yeh, next year will be our big year.

And then it will be 3 more years till my youngest starts school

I had a little reminisce and got misty eyed this morning dropping Miss 16 to the senior school for her 1st day of yr11 😞

It doesn't feel like that long ago I was crying on her first day at kindy, but we've been through so much over those years and she is such an amazingly stable and level headed girl. ❤️

Yes master 12 went off for his first day at high school, looking so grown up in his very smart looking uniform. He also got glasses over the holidays, those very cool shiny black ones, although he's only wearing them in the classroom so far.

Near our house is a preschool and I could hear lots of kids crying on their first day. It usually lasts for weeks!

Not going to cry at all...rather sigh with relief when I send Miss 16 back to school on Monday...Yr 12...one more yr and then Uni

Hopefully have her licence by then

I cried today... got a call from the SEP to make sure my son was ok.... we are fine and have everything we need... wanted to check to see if any family needed anything like uniforms and was told that yes, there is one family that lost everything... putting together my list of things I can offer... an old but good laptop, single bed, bedside table...

not a lot but something..

Well today Miss almost 16yo was able to go back to school and into Year 11. I haven't shared on here I don't think, but she is now living with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and for all but 4 days of the second half of last year she was unable to attend school. She did partial home schooling and had to give that up as well as her little casual job. We had an interview with the Principal yesterday and she didn't have to repeat.

She has improved in the past couple of months and chose to dive in and get back to school full time. We have a great team behind us and I am sure she will do well.

So I am a proud Mum to a Year 7 daughter and a Year 11 daughter this year.

i get teary this time of year every year because i have never and will never have a little one going off to school. i would love to be buying books and uniforms and taking a child to school. maybe one day we will foster.

sorry didn't mean to be a downer. i have a few friends has young ones going to high school in year 7 next year in Qld for the first time. they will look so little going off to high school.

Not a downer at all VT. My sister struggles every year too. She always said from the time she turned 19 that she would never have kids coz she knew she was not stable enough in life and her choice in partners was not good (still not much better). At the age of 30ish she started going through menopause after treatment for cervical cancer. She had to have a hysterectomy so the "choice" was taken away from her. She then began to notice more and more people that were drug addicts and having addicted babies, people that didn't provide for their children etc etc and it hit her terribly hard as it was now not just a choice she could change.
The first day of school things are one of the many things she struggles with.

Your emotions are just as legitimate as everyone elses' honey, my thoughts are with you.
