What would you buy for a new mum.? This is for a young girl only seventeen so I am wondering what should I buy for her.

What about a movie pass so she and a friend can have a few hours out.

What about a trendy large bag...one that can be used as a nappy bag also. Voucher for haircut or manicure.

Voucher for a haircut and manicure sounds good, esp hair cut.

A few home cooked meals delivered to her over the coming months would probably not go astray either so she can rest her feet at the end of the day.

I think the haircut or similar is a great idea. Especially being only 17 she may be feeling overwhelmed and like she is losing herself a little. Something to make her feel special as herself rather than "a mum" would be nice

i think at 17 she needs to be reminded that she is now a Mum.

So many 17 year old who have a baby think they can still be 17 and fancy free.

You are assuming that this new mum needs reminding when in fact you know nothing of the sort! Sandy asked for suggestions for the mum not the baby.

BTW how did the talk go with your niece....you did say you would be giving her a lecture about teenage pregnancy now she has 2 babies.

That's a bit harsh DDB. I remember being a first time mum (and I was several years older that 17) and feeling a bit lost and consumed by the whole experience. It was like everyone had fallen in love with the baby and forgotten I was still there too. I think it's lovely for Sandy to be thinking about something special for mum too.

I gave her a lecture after having her first baby at 17.

Gave her a big lecture about using contraceptive.

But, like most 17 year olds, it went in one ear and out the next.

Yes, she has 2 now and as you would be aware, the 2nd one was a big shock to not only her but the whole family.

Ohh and what present did i buy her for her first baby? A nappy bag with nappies.

For the second one, i paid for her to get implanon in her arm
