Have you ever "accidentally" ended up in a relationship?

I had a horrifyingly awful breakup with my fiance in August last year. By September I had moved cities, got a new job, got my child into a new school and settled back into my life. I also went out with my girlfriends one night (to drown my sorrows) and met an extremely good looking Kiwi who I ended up having a passionate night with (which was good for my self esteem).

I never intended to see him again but we spent the next 2 months sending text messages which consisted of little more than "Bootie call?" and "when / where?". I was not looking for a boyfriend (in fact made it very clear I wasn't!) and this worked extremely well.

HOWEVER, by November we'd gone to the movies together a few times. Gone to the beach a couple of times. By December he'd met some of my friends and I'd met his. By January we went on a holiday together for 4 days (I should have listened to my wise girlfriend who stated "bootie calls don't go on holidays together" and (horror OH horror) he's started introducing me as his girlfriend.

So, I have accidentally gotten myself a boyfriend. And the timing is so bad. I've basically ended up jumping from one relationship to another without having any "me" time in between!

A lovely boyfriend. A great looking boyfriend. But a thoroughly unsuitable flirty tarty boyfriend.

And I didn't want a boyfriend.

But, I have one and he's so lovely to me that I don't really want to get rid of him.

Go with the flow - there's no ring on your finger - you can still bail when you want - from the sounds of your other thread, you seem like you could do with someone nice to spend "me time with"

If he treats you nicely, you like spending time with him and he fits in with your lifestyle, I can't see anything wrong with knowing where your next booty call is coming from...

(even though he's a Kiwi........runs>>>>>>>>>)

Yeah it's happened to me a couple of times... I'm kinda in the situation right now. He wants to do things like come to my fracture clinicappointments and do things around the house. Bleh.

Yes, the Kiwi thing is a bit of a worry. I've even started picking up his vernacular and referring to awesome things as "choice" calling people "bro" and saying "real" and "true"........and I now know how to say seven! see-vn!

haha...he is off to the land of the long white cloud for a week and told me he'll bring me and my daughter back some genuine NZ made jandals!!!! They are choice ay??!!!

I wonder if they have sheep on them?

Maybe you can't imagine how a drunken one night stand could be good for your self esteem, but I appreciate a good looking man. I enjoy passionate love making. I like feeling desired. I get a kick out of (now) dating someone who is VERY good looking.

I think it's sad that some people are so worried about society's expectations that they can't understand that two consenting adults can hook up and both feel good about it.

I totally understand where you're coming from! I too met a gorgeous kiwi man.....it was/is a great casual relationship. A break from the monotony of life!! The difference with us is that we both agreed he would move on after a while (he sails yatchs for people so travels around the world). i call him my pirate....he looks like one!

What I didn't count on was kind of falling for him in a small way. And now he's leaving in 2 weeks and I wont see him again 😞

The boost to my self-esteem has been incredible ...I wouldn't trade my time with my kiwi pirate for quids

As for a Kiwi Pirate - that is so choice!!!

It IS a huge self esteem boost to have someone take you out and do nice things with you and just desire you.

It's great to feel understood that other people "get" what I am saying!

Aspie, spot on. If it's making you happy, it doesn't matter how it started - just grab onto it with both hands - cos there are more than enough bad times in a person's life, so I reckon grab onto the good stuff whenever you can.

Aspie Mum, I am now married to the guy I repeatedly told I was not interested in a relationship. What began as fun is now a very happy marriage.

I should add...I left a marriage in the January (although it hadn't been a marriage for more than 5 years) and we got together in the April. He had apparently liked me since the September before and I had no idea. He made his feelings clear from about the March and I kept telling him to forget it, too young, not interested, males sucked etc etc...He persisted. We have been together almost 3 years and married since last October.
