Yikes.... Snakes active in July... WT!

Came home, let the two little dogs out the door looked down and this is what I saw;

It's not considered warm in SE Qld ATM. My snake catcher man who I emailed this photo to get confirmation of the type of snake said he couldn't believe how active they are right now. Today alone he'd been on two removal call outs.

So this is a friendly reminder to LOCK CLOSE your pet door people!

It's getting to the stage where those pet door aren't a safe idea in the warmer climates at any time of the year... yikes!

in europe (germany) they experience migrationhs of mozzies (NOT gnats) that were only known to southern europe before.

Thanks for the heads up am in northern nsw as well had a common death adder in the yard a couple of augusts ago was way to close for comfort:( Wont have a pet door in the house for the very reason of the snakes:(

What is it Dixo?

We have had some small snakes this winter but mostly tree snakes.

You can get doggy doors with a magnet (and a collar) which only allows your pet access.

My sister had one in her yard a couple of weeks ago. She lives in the Mt Ommaney area of Brisbane.

Ugh Dixo, I hate snakes.

be careful up there. Did you find out what it was?

In Melb we're having the warmest winter on record, snakes might be a problem here next summer too.

I get the shudders just thiinking about snakes coming through pet doors

Someone I know saw a snake on the golf course yesterday. NSW far south coast.

See them quite often up here (Sunny Coast) mainly in the foreshore bushy area's when I walk ~~puppu~~ puppy along the beach.

Thankfully only had one in my back yard and my dog kept a very wide berth let me tell you.

This one is a guy to have around because he's one of the few snakes that feasts on baby cane toads!

It's a Keelback freshwater snake.

Wow that would have been a heart-stopping moment, Dixo

My daughter living in Mackay occasionally gets snakes in the laundry or in the house, it freaks her out. Their cat alerts her to the presence of snakes, he's a very valued tom.

A keelback freshwater snake? What handy fellow to have around if you've got lots of cane toads!
