Just found a page I printed out from Chinwag in 2005, it was peters_mum posting the pattern for the little knitted christmas stockings. I have ben looking for it for years, they are quick to knit and make the best christmas gift for the kids class mates, with a mini pack of lifesavers or similar in them.

If anyone wants the pattern I will post when I get a minute tonight.

8 ply wool

4mm needles

Cast on 30 stitches and knit 6 rows

Row 7 K16, sl 1, K1, psso, turn

Row 8 K4, K2 tog, turn

Row 9 K4 sl 1 , K1, psso, turn

Continue until 17 stitches remain, knit to end

Knit 20 rows

Either: K 6 rows in white wool OR rib 6 rows (K1 P1)

Stitch together down back, leaving a length of wool to lop and hang from the tree.
